Lenin was not a recognized freemason. Although claims have been made that he was a member of the Grand Orient of Russian Peoples, there is no proof of this. The Grand Orient of Russian Peoples was an irregular and clandestine body, having no relations with regular Freemasonry. The Revue internationale des Sociétés Secrètes claimed, without citation, that Lenin was a member of a secret masonic lodge in Switzerland. Prince Dr. Otto zu Salm-Horstmar said in a speech in the upper house of the Prussian Diet, in August 1918, that Lenin was a Jew and belonged to a masonic lodge in Paris with Trotsky, but his sources are also uncited.

I can't quote a source, but I believe that it was true, Lenin was a Mason.

He may have been struck off the list of "Famous Masons"

According to two Biographies of Lenin or Vladimir Ilich Ulyanov, I found on the Web. Lenin did join the Mason's while he attended St. Petersburg Academy where he was studying to become a lawyer

He was only briefly a Mason and apparently quit the organization when he began to study Marxism. I usually don't trust completely internet Bio's.

But I do seem to remember from reading a biography about Lenin that he was a Mason, unfortunately I can't remember the name of the Biography to give you an accurate source.

The claim, without any proof, that Lenin was a Mason was first made in 1919. No further evidence of it has ever surfaced

No. kokopelli answers this well.

He was not struck from the list of Freemasons, the masonicinfo.com site does not do that, it has famous and infamous masons listed on it and he has taken some he for that from some masons, but he is right in pointing out the bad individuals of freemasonry as hiding them would not be just to all of the great individuals of freemasonry.

Hate to disagree with the other posters but they are wrong. You have to ask to be a Mason no one will invite you. As the saying goes 2B1Ask1
