I can tell you in my nation- SOME people DO eat dog BUT NOT MY (also the 55%+ of population) ethnicity- Javanese
Only Batak ethnics (from Sumatra), (some) Chinese and some Balinese eat dog/insect/cat-
We Javanese consider this very disgusting and 2 some crazy muslim think it is haram to eat cat, dog or monkey etc- BUT when I went to Qatar & UAE (full of crazy arab) - dog shish street vendor very common.
So- in Asia- some Indonesian, few Malay, many Chinese, many Korean, almost no Japanese, some Philippino. Backward countries like Laos, Burma and Cambodia known to eat anything that walk, swim or fly (spider is Khmer 'delicacy').
Thailand- I know some Chinese eat cat and dog for medicine (?) also in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

So PLEASE- do not say ALL South East Asian- only South-East Asian PRIMITIVES eat
- elites will not eat such barbarous food to save our life

It is very insulting stereotype that we elites could be so vulgar, barbarous and crude as our nation's primitives.

Metallica- no- only Chinese do the cat boiling. This is very cruel only a Chinese would do this. It is to preserve their pelt used for textile industry to bulk up rabbit fur.
The stick is to tenderise the dog meat in China- adrenaline makes any meat (even cow) yuck.
Guangzhou and Guangdong in CHina is infamous for eating everything.

You are foolish to think this is rudeness or elitism. Proteins can be more easily derived from fish/seafood or legume- not cat, dog, horse, insect, primate or the food choice of savages.

Going on a variety of documentaries i have watched many people from Asia eat what we in UK consider domestic animals, cats, dogs, and Korea in particular seems to have a penchant for dogs, though i can't see why. Then again perhaps if one were starving you'd eat anything.
People who in India are classed as the Untouchables, and there are something like 180 million of them, many being dirt poor and starving resort to eating rats. So who's to say what we would do in those circumstances.

I can't find the link but in several Asian countries they do that. I've seen the videos, they boil cats alive then skin then. They also eat puppies because the meat is more tender than older dogs. They beat the puppies with a stick right before they kill them because all the adrenaline it causes makes the meat more tasty.

I'm not sure what the actual question is but, I'll take two points by the way.

Oh, and you tell others not to stereotype, yet you do the same thing with your "we elites," and "our nation's primitives," if you want others to be more open minded, you should do the same yourself.

eww that's disgusting...my sister told me she heard a story the other day about a couple who went to China and stopped in a restaurant with their dog. They tried to ask the server to make some food for their dog. The guy took the dog in the back and brought it out cooked for them! Apparently there was some miscommunication...could you imagine your happy little tail-wagging dog being served on a platter to you??...
