the universe is currently expanding and it is currently believed that it will continue to expand for ever. however as the universe expands the average temperature will drop until eventually it reaches effectively 0 kelvin. (at the moment the average is 3 kelvin). this is known as the heat death of the universe as nothing will be able to survive so whilst the universe wont ever die (it will continue to exist) nothing will be able to live.

Recent studies say that matter in the universe is expanding at an ever increasing pace into the infinite space. This will continue until everything will start getting farther and farther from every other thing. At first the stars then coming down to molecular levels, further going down to sub atomic levels. Everything will be ripped apart and only thing that will remain will be cold dark space...back to where it all began.

One theory did think that the universe would shrink and disappear. However, new evidence suggests it is expanding; tere is too little matter to pull it back in. In fact, it is not only expanding, it is accelerating.

The Universe will go on expanding forever, rather like your ego.

It could be...we don't really know, the universe is something we don't completely understand.

Very interesting idea!
