It's originally Roman, from Antonius, and a classic from Europe (Anton)

I had a greatgrandfather named Anton and his father and grandfather were named Antone. They were French Canadian. I like the name, personally, and it's not used much so he won't be lost in a sea of kids with the same name.

Al Pacino has twins, and the boy is named Anton. I like it, and he won't be lost in a class of 15 Jacobs or 10 Aidans....

I like it.

It seems like a nice alternative to Anthony, a classic that reminds me of the (many, many) Uncle Tonys on my family tree.

But it also fits with the 2-syllable boy names so popular in recent years - Jaden, Braden, Austin, Dylan - without having the trendy, stuck-in-the-90s feel.

Anton is nice- at least, it is nicer sounding than Anthony, I think. Just go with a single-syllable middle name, like James, Jack, or Mark.

It works for Apolo Anton Ono, the Olympic gold medal skater, and it works for me too!

Good luck!

Think about how much this child is going to be picked on.

"Hey look, you gotta ANTON you."

Childhood is the worse part of life when it comes to the other little jerks your child will be hanging out with. (I have three kids...I know what I'm talking about) Children are mean, and if you name them something they can be picked on, they'll be saying your name a lot when they're older sitting on their shrinks couch. (I'm looking forward to it actually.)
