She's not the brightest bulb in the box, and she's had some awfully bad examples to follow and worse advice.

Somebody's taking serious advantage of a person who is not armed for a battle of wits.

Lest you wonder, it's in senior citizens because seniors are the most likely to view this situation dispassionately.

Yes I do feel sorry for her. I think she has more money than sense. To be as talented and make so many mistakes is heartbreaking to me. She may not see it now but when she grows up she will realize what she has done. I'm just glad that I'm not famous because I have made some major ones myself. Say a prayer for the girl. She is self destructing.

What did you mean by your allusion to somebody taking advantage of Britney Spears?

I don't feel sorry for her. There is no need for it. Her life isn't tragic. She has made a few mistakes, and obviously suffers from some sort of mental ailment. In that one regard, I feel compassion for her (about her mental condition).

Aside from this, there is no call for looking at her with sympathy. She has a lot going for herself. Although having money and being famous certainly have their drawbacks, she has an opportunity to live a charmed life. A lot of people are suffering because of the economy right now- not just in America, but everywhere else, too. She has access to a lot of resources that many of us do not.

If she elects to do so, she can get the best therapists in the country to help her. She probably needs a good Christian mentor to emulate.

But again, it is gratuitous to feel sorry for Britney Spears. Why would there be any need for it?

You know, I too feel sorry for her. Why? Because if she wanted to, she really could go a lot of places we all wish we could go. I think she has a lot of talent and she can be so beautiful when she makes the right choices. I think she needs to take a good long hard look at what she is becoming and try to find a place in her life that she felt the greatest and try to get that back. I have read where she really thinks that everyone is trying to take advantage of her and that is one of her biggest problems because she feels as if she is being mislead and cant trust anyone. If she can get past that (even though I am sure they are out there) and try to reconnect with her parents and religion, she just may get her life back on track! Besides, putting her kids before all!

No. Why should I feel sorry for her? She has had the "Life of Riley" in comparison to most people. She has mental health issues that much is true but they are exacerbated by her substance abuse issues. I feel sorry for the 2 innocent children her and the "idiot" she married created. They are the only people who are both innocent and suffering from their parent's borderline retarded, and in more cases absolute criminal behavior. Where are her parents? In Florida we have a couple of laws ... primarily The Baker Act that a synopsis of is below: What are the criteria for involuntary psychiatric exams in Florida?

Florida law permits a mental health professional, law enforcement officer, or judge who issues an ex parte order to initiate an involuntary examination only when a person meets the following criteria:

[I]f there is reason to believe that he or she is mentally ill and because of his or her mental illness:

(a) 1. The person has refused voluntary examination after conscientious explanation and (a) disclosure of the purpose of the examination; or

(a) 2. The person is unable to determine for himself or herself whether the examination is (a) necessary; and

(b) 1. Without care or treatment, the person is likely to suffer from neglect or refuse to care for himself or herself; such neglect or refusal poses a real and present threat of substantial harm to his or her well-being; and it is not apparent that such harm may be avoided through the help of willing family members or friends or the provision of other services; or

(a) 2. There is a substantial likelihood that without care or treatment the person will cause serious bodily harm to himself or herself or others in the near future, as evidenced by recent behavior.

Bottom line is if she pulled that nonsense, (or the other drama queens Paris "famous 4 nothing" Hilton, & Lindsay "throw a cheeseburger instead of cocaine in her body" Lohan") here in Florida she would already be in a state mental hospital. They could hold her for up to 72 hours for evaluation and then go in front of an administrative law judge. He would determine after hearing from the psychiatrists if she needed a longer stay, the answer would be yes.
You're heart is misplaced on this one. The little rich girls (and boys) that think the law does not apply to them need some good old fashioned tough love. Yeah, poor Britney, washed up at 23 or 24. Sympathy is in the dictionary between 2 colorful words. They deserve none. Take those children into State custody immediately unless there is someone normal in either family, hers or "duh K-Fed" that could take emergency custody. I feel sorry for people who have been handed tough things to deal with, e.g. my son was diagnosed with cancer just before his 3rd birthday, my friend's son was stricken with an adult form of leukemia at the age of 4 and died before his 9th birthday. Unfortunately stupidity is not a crime. If it were half of Holly-weird would be doing time.

I think she had too much too soon in her life. I am sure that the people were profiting from her millions catered to her every whim and she never learned boundaries. I don't think that it is too late, if she wakes up and smells the roses. Only she has the control to change herself. No rehab or court order will change her unless she herself puts the effort into changing and and means it. It is not to appease a court or rehab facility., Perhaps now she has a self loathing and continues on a destructive path I feel so sorry for the little boys. She seems to be an absent parent and will miss out on the formative years of her children's formative years. These years can never be recanted or relived. Again, money can't buy happiness, it comes from within your soul

Another here today, gone tomorrow, has been. All that money and no brains to go with it. Who cares!!!She is just Media fodder. Always has been, always will. Another Anna Nicole Smith, O J Simpson and a few others. We are all tired of hearing about them. Let them fall by the wayside where they belong. Never have understood the fasination with all of these celebrity people. They all put there pants on ( granted a few don't even wear pants) just like us one leg at a time. Sure they make more money than many of us will ever see. But it's their job. It's what they choose to do with it that counts. GIVE IT A REST, We really don't care.

I agree with SGT V but I'd like to add one thing....She should have been arrested for bending over in front of the "rag-mag" cameras with no underwear on. I don't think K-Fed is any more capable of taking care of two little children than Brittany the irresponsible Druggie-alcoholic loser chic. You people are RIGHT ON when you say the little pre-teen girls adore her and she's setting this horrible example for them. Would anybody here want their girls to emulate someone who doesn't have the decency to wear underwear under a mini skirt??? It was all over the media. I don't think anyone missed it. Neither did the teens.

She's living in a goldfishbowl and I honestly don't know how she copes. Despite what people say I liked her movie "Crossroads" .I have an adopted daughter an we could relate to that movie. I have enjoyed some of her music and videos through listening with my grandaughter . I know parenting itself is a very tough job ,never mind having all the pressures the celebrities have to go through. she needs to find a mentor in that business, like Reba or Willie Nelson that have survived the crap and just got on with life.

No life is about choices. It is my impression that she has always had someone to bail her out, all she had to do was bat her eyelashes and open her shirt - well welcome to the real world Brittney - she is looking a lot older, and pretty beat up and used and it just aint working anymore for her.

This is a person who chose to be dumb and to be a bimbo all her life and "work it if you got it" and in my book that adds up to skank and ho --

I have zero sympathy for someone who chooses to use drugs, abuse alcohol, believe they are "immune" from any repurcussions, AND have children AND still chose the party circuit.

If she has a brain she has chosen to never use it. As for something going wrong in her development years would you WANT to be raising a teenager or a child with her sense of entitlement and skanky behavior?

There are thousands of women who have survived abusive childhoods and they arent all out flashing their boobs for attention and drinking and drugging, so PLEASE dont try to play that pity card for Brittney.

Its about CHOICES. She made hers. She has an ego that doesnt quit. Childhood abuse survivors DONT exhibit that kind of ego. So no I dont believe she is a "victim" of anything or anyone other than herself and her choices.

She is a product of the Americans society and media, there is no doubt about that, but she like everyone else had choices. She wasnt forced to be who she is.

Oh wait a second WHO is the worst message of all from the media aimed at young women? Brittney !!! She IS the message and has been for far too long.

Not all young women have become as immersed in the party culture as she has, and Paris and a few other bleached blonde bimbos and skanks - not even all the famous ones, so no sympathy for any of them.

They have been horrid destructive role models for little girls, and have all taken it way way way too far. The only person who has been taking advantage of Brittney is Brittney --

Save your sympathy for people who are really mentally challenged and need a crusader to help them get the things they deserve, like food and shelter.

Millions of children living in extreme poverty in NA and you feel sorry for BRITTNEY ?

The life of Britney Spears is what happens when you let your child into Hollywood at such a young age. She spent most of her young life on the Mickey Mouse Club and Disney was who basically launched her career. I think she is desperate to be loved and admired. She doesn't know who she is because she spent all of her life being who everyone else wanted. No wonder the poor girl is so lost. I blame her parents and fans for putting so much on her shoulders. I blame her for advertising her problems to the public and for not trying to fix her mistakes. Get that not TRYING. Going to rehab for a day is not TRYING anything but get public sympathy. She needs to tell everyone to hell with it and go live in another state and not tell anyone where she went. Mabey then she can start to create herself the way she would like to be. Life isn't about finding yourself, it is about creating yourself.
