How can I tell what kind of modem my laptop has on it?

As said, built in modem, will be V90 or V92

If you need drivers, they're on the CD the manufacturer sent you WITH the laptop.

Lost it, try the laptop manufacturers website and download from there

If you are refering to the internal dial -up modem chances are it is a V90
