I have wanted to try this for a while, but i'm so skeptical, I just can't bring myself to make the leap, I would preffer to hear from people who have had bad experiences with them to get an idea of what the company is like.
I would also like to hear some positive imput from people that have had good experiences.

Prosper is legit.

I am a small lender on Prosper. As of now, I have been a involved with lending on 20 loans to 20 different people.

If you have decent credit, the ability to pay the loan back, and you can write a good add, you should get a loan.

There are lots of `loan` companies, but what you should realise is that loan companies do not lend their own money.
They put your details forward to a lending bank and when you receive your loan they get paid a commission.
So their lending money does not come into it. What does come into is how much they charge you upfront or even after you`ve got the loan.
What a lot of people do not realise is that they, you, can approach the lending bank direct and cut out the loan company, which means you could get a loan at a lesser lending rate because the commission of the loan company does not have to be taken into account.

Prosper is a legit company. I didn't get approved because of my credit which I was bummed about. They advertise for bad credit loans and then they still deny you but I knew of a friend who was able to get one.
