A basic tower up to gutter height costs £1500! Why not make your own with wood bolted together. In the far east they use bamboo tied together.

I agree with you, people laugh at bamboo scaffolding until they see steel buckle and twist in the heat. Then, if you make something for others, you have to meet all sorts of specifications and make it so well that it can't possibly fail, landing you with a lawsuit.

Depends how high the gutter is! Depends how long the tower is and also how long you want it for? Is it a tubular scaffold or an alloy one? Try hiring one.
If it is for a domestic house. You can get them quite cheap from a lot of hire places if you shop around.

(Also depends on what you're doing from the tower too)

Its the new regulations. the cheep towers are no longer fit for purpose and not sold.
The towers are not £1.5k (have you just walked of the street into Travis Perkins?)
You need to shop around.

i dunno where you live Joe king..sounds a bit like fairy land to me ..for 1500 pounds you could get a rolls Royce .of towers ..look in the back of your local paper ..bet you can find one for sale!
