Well I am 17 and starting a new job tomorrow, I am working alongside someone on reception answering the telephone and computer stuff, the woman I am working with seems lovely and I know she will help me while I am new.

I dont feel nervous at the moment but think I might a bit on the way there, any tips for me trying to make my first day or week a bit relaxing.

wow. what a blessing. i remember when i was 16 and just starting out into the world of "nine to five". How exciting.
This is the first day of the rest of your life. Love your youthfulness. Remember that you will be representing the Lord and how he loves people"

1. Be the wonderful, young person that your parents trained.
2. Not everyone who smiles in your face is 'for' you. So stay prayerful and look for the best in people.

3. Remember that you are not 20, 30 or 40 years old. Know your place, however, after a week, you will be considered "one of the group".

4. Soak up all that you can from others who have been at the same position as you are beginning.

5. And by all means, you are not trying to make being a receptionist for the rest of your life. This is a "foot in the door". Be helpful to others. You may someday be the head of that Receptionist/Clerk/Secretary department.
6. This position is a wonderful one, though. remember that you will be the first person customer's will see, and the first voice representing the company.

7. smile when answering and smile when you meet customers.

8. have fun with this position. do not stress. it will be a breeze. and prepare to move up. i am loving this.

9. "One day at a time, sweet Jesus, that is all i'm asking of you"

Peace and Joy, dear.

Relax, you'll be fine. Pay close attention to things you are told - you might want to keep notes on how to do things they teach you. And don't hesitate to ask questions - you aren't expected to know everything.

Good luck.

Try taking notes, this way if you are nervous, you can go back to the notes later.
