I just got a $50 gift certificate from Amazon and I would like to pick up some new tunes. Is there anything you feel I need to hear? I have no idea what to get, so any and all suggestions are appreciated! :)

Flanders - good question...sorry about that. My tastes mostly lean to the rock side - the Deftones, Incubus and Pearl Jam are heavily represented in my collection. I generally stay away from country, rap and emo.

Fonzie - the classics are always a good idea. I own very few of them, and some of them I haven't heard at all. :O

Funny you should ask! It wouldn't be me if I wasn't try to recommend something. I got some that top the list right now, one of which I don't think is out yet.

Bad Religion - New Maps of Hell - This is likely their best album since Stranger Than Fiction.

Gallows - Touring with BR as we speak. These guys flat out rock. Tipper Gore would freak if she heard these lyrics!

She Wants Revenge - We still gotta wait, at least until 10/9. This might be my favorite band that has no connection whatsoever to the 90's. The second coming of Joy Division. Just heard the new song True Romance, killer tune.

Mindless Self Indulgence - You'll Rebel to Anything - There is no clear cut easy classification for this band other than great.

Good grief, I've been screaming this for a few weeks now... go to Amazon and order The Answer - Rise.

It's Zeppelin meets Cream meets the Faces... and by God, it's brilliant.

I must also strongly reccomend that you check out at least one CD by The Wildhearts (since I haven't heard the new one yet, my pick would be either Earth vs. The Wildhearts or The Wildhearts Must Be Destroyed). If you like Metallica, Cheap Trick, and the Ramones... and if you ever wondered what it would sound lke if you mixed all three bands into a blender... then you'll love The Wildhearts.

So, to sum it up:

The Answer - Rise
The Wildhearts - Earth vs. The Wildhearts
The Wildhearts - The Wildhearts Must Be Destroyed

well, i'd of course recommend any pink floyd, led zeppelin, misfits, and so on.
but some others would definitly be
any nine inch nails- the new year zero is great. so is the downward spiral
absolutely any tool album
all alice in chains. most specifically dirt, if you've never heard them before
anything by the pixies. they are THE most important band to alternative rock, so if you don't have any, thats a definite buy!
and if your looking for a more metal side, metallica's master of puppets or ...and justice for all are amazing albums.

I'm not sure if you would like them, but I've been digging on Band of Horses, Apollo Sunshine and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Really cool stuff. You may want to check out a track or so before commiting, I'd hate to steer you wrong, but they're pretty good. Okkervil River is really great as well. Their new one, Stage Names, is a very good record.

Depends on what you like. If you like rock then 'Radiohead' (getting into Radiohead is like learning a new language) is a good/smart choice. Start with their 2003 'Hail To The Thief' if you are new to the band. It's a good starting point. If you want a perfect record that covers a variety of styles then get Jeff Buckley's 'GRACE'. His voice was one of the most beautiful voices we'll ever know. You will not be disappointed. Trust me.

If you don't have any Rise Against all their albums are good. Lagwagon is awesome the albums Thrashed, Hoss and Duh are the best from them. I'd also recommend Strung Out the best albums are Exile In Oblivion, An American Paradox and Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues. If you like Bad Religion you'll probably like these bands.
