seems fine otherwise, it isn't swollen or anything. Does he need to be seen by the doctor? Should I apply ice to the area?

Most of the eye injuries I saw in practice were not threatening to the eye. Unfortunately there is no way to be sure of this without close inspection. I recommend a visit to the doctor.

He most likely is fine.... I scratched my eyeballs a few times learning to take out my contacts. The redness is scary looking, but will go away in a couple days. Being that it's the lid that he scratched I would worry even less. BUT whenever you are in doubt you should call your doctor. You never know when there could be an infection...

My son got a piece of wood in his eye and it scratched the white part causing it to be very red. they put this solution in it that only they could tell if it was scratched with a special light. SO you should take him to the dr. and let them look at it. sometimes it is scratched and you can't see it with the human eye. Good Luck!!

Take him to the eye doctor so that they could give him eye cream b4 it gets infected, GO DO IT NOW! We don't want him to lose him eye or his sight. I'm a mother of 4 so i know the danger of a little scratch.

I would take him to see a doctor just in case because it could get worse and their is the potential for him to lose his eye sight if he isn't seen by a doctor. Good luck

Don't take chances, our eyes are irreplaceable! He may be fine now, but he is at risk of infection. Go to the doctors.

Good luck!

What was it he scratched his eye on it.. Apply a cool cloth on the eye and if it gets worse then seek medical attention.. If it's right on the retina then take him right away.

I'd advise having it looked at either by your family doctor or your eye doctor.

I think you should take him to a doctor. It may seem fine now, but the scar could get infected. So I think take him to the doctor to get some anointments and anti-biotics.
