You can try what I did... It will work if you are not towing a yacht or anything with a power brake.

1) I rented a Ford 150 from Economy.
2) There is a light/medium duty trailer ball mount built in to the truck... simply remove (and save) the plastic cover and insert an tighten the proper ball.
3) Buy some adaptor light bulbs for the tail lights and insert them.. they come with soldered leads that allow you to hook up the trailer lights to them.

Hook it up and off you go..

When you get there, reverse the procedure, clean it all up and put the plastic cover back on.

BUT.

This prob. violates all sorts of condtions on the rental agreement and if you have an accident, you may end up having to buy the truck. I was just towing a motorcycle a few hundred miles.. you are talking about a LOT further... so you will have a bigger exposure to accidents and problems.

Really well they should, your paying for the rental, you should be able to do what you need with it.

I too know UHAUL Allows state to state use, try them...
