The timing is electronically controlled so you don't manually set it like the old days. One way to change it (improve performance) is to change the chip that controls it. It is called the PROM (program read only memory) and is in the PCM (powertrain control module). You can find performance chip info in the back of most auto magazines, like Car and Driver. Most are shops in California and can help you choose the correct one for your car.

There is no such thing anymore as to using a timing light or mag probe to adjust the spark delivery to the motor. The PCM controls all of this with sensor inputs. If you are talking about timing the cams and crank pulleys when replacing the timing belt, they do have this.
