Yes yes ...undefeated vs. no wins compared to a contest of 2-2 teams...but really.....there is a bigger chance of Purdue winning by 3 TDs over ND than Michigan beating ND by a couple TDs plus change? No brainer? Would you back it up with real money?

Northwestern runs a fairly spread out and open offense, which Michigan has most definiately had trouble defending this season (Oregon and App St run the spread) so just by the nature of their scheme they may have a chance to put up some points (they wont pull off the upset). Purdue's Defense is pretty stout and their offense has been averaging 48 points a game. The Irish have not held an opponent under 30 points yet this year and have managed only 2 offensive TDs in four games. However, you have noticed an interesting stuation there. My prediction would be that Notre Dame does beat the spread but lose the game, while NW gets blown out hard core.

Purdue is playing like a well-oiled machine while Michigan is just...well, just bumping along. In their rout over ND, no one was impressed. Eyebrows didn't raise. It was really no big deal. With the Penn State game, yeah, they beat a team that was #10, but seeing the point totals, it was a very close game. And not only that!, but U of M basically dominated every stat as far as time of possession, rushing, passing, etc. And those were the ONLY points they could put on the board in their own stadium? Many people are not quite convinced that they're "back" so to speak. That leaves the door open for bad things to happen. I don't think it will be an OSU-style spanking by a long shot. :-) That's why Northwestern is not that huge of an underdog.

ND on the other hand - TrainWreck University - geez - where do I begin? Middle school teams could beat these clowns if they wanted. No one expects ND to even come close to Purdue this weekend. Dorien Bryant is a powerhouse. When Painter's on fire, he's on FIRE and rarely misses. In order to be classified as an underdog, a team has to have an outside glimmer of hope for victory. The Irish (no fight in them from what I can see), don't even have that.

Because Notre Dame is 0-4 and Purdue is 4-0, while Michigan and Northwestern are both 2-2. Seems like a no-brainer that the Michigan-NW game will be closer.

I just want to type that first part again because it felt so good. Notre Dame is 0-4. Nice.

The Irish aren't even the best winless team in the country. Colorado State owns that dubious honor.

About the best thing that can be said for the Irish right now is that they might be the best 0-4 team in the country ... might.

Right now the BGS Ratings have Notre Dame ranked 99th out of 120 teams, worse than Duke and Central Michigan but marginally better than New Mexico State, Army & Toledo and still significantly better than Rice, Temple and Florida International.

The good news for Irish fans is that they can't drop much lower, so it should be all good from here on in. Let's hope.

because Northwestern has scored more than 1 offensive TD this year. Purdue has a good defense and will confuse the Notre Dame offensive to making mistakes.

Notre Dame is horrible this year. No one is stepping up as a leader on the team.

the irish are a weak and pathetic football team with no real leadership or organization. michigan is a better team but not by much and im a wolverine fan. they lack a serious defense to stop the run but they have enough, i believe to stop northwestern where purdue is a better team than ND by miles.
Go Blue!!

Probably because Michigan's offense hasn't been clicking yet (except against ND when they were handed the ball over and over), and Purdue has been lighting people up so far this year.
