Home is where the heart is,

I left mine in China,
it calls to me,
from across the sea
a gentle breeze,
the sound of temple bells,
and there upon the sand
my footprints linger,
a shadow,
a memory of my passing,

Does the wind carry an echo of my voice,
the sound of laughter,
walking side by side
with friends
along the Yellow Sea?

Do the vendors in the market pause
and wonder
where I have gone
and why I am no longer there?

Do you remember me?
I remember you,
and hear you calling me -
and every day just at dawn
you fill my heart with memories .

To rise and go out into the street,
feel the energy,
hear voices raised in song,
and laughter,
the markets everywhere,
smiling faces,
never boring,
never dull,
kind and gentle people

I gaze upon the moon at night,
the same moon that shines its light on China,
and remember
temples,
parks,
people dancing
lanterns glowing
beneath the moon,

and ..from across the sea,
I hear you calling me --

My heart is in the Highlands, my heart is not here,
My heart is in the Higlands a chasing the deer
Chasing the wild deer, and following the roe
My heart is in the Highlands, wherever I go!

I've lived in so many countries, I'm not sure which is home. But have to make a decision next February. News out of South Africa is "terrible".

Any suggestions, all you lovely folk out there.

Nowhere cold.

It's true. I had a job that sent me all over the world. It was nice being in other countries and seeing other cultures, but it was always better to come back home.

It's true that home is where the heart is. It doesn't have to be a place of shelter for your heart to seek shelter in it. My home is in the mountains, and I've never lived there, but I go as often as possible and always feel peace and solace there.

Home is not where you were born,
Home is not where you have lived most,
or all of your life,
Home is in your heart,
Home is when you feel that you are,
Where you always wanted to be....
