If you can I am sure they will appreciate it, it gives them a chance to make sure your work is covered while you are gone. If something happens that is out of your control then they should understand that but I am sure they will be more understanding if you have been keeping them up to date on when you think you will be gone and for how long.

Not really. Your employer should know that you are pregnant and when your due date is. Most people will let their employer know around the time they start to show, if not before. You can't always know exactly 2 weeks before the birth, and some people will work up until the day they have the baby. If you are planning to take off a week or so before the due date, you should let your employer know that that is what you plan to do. Surely you will have someone who will be covering for you in your absence and it would only be polite to let them know when you plan to be gone. But as far as a formal 2 week notice, that's not really necessary. I was working when I had my first child, and I was due on a Thursday, so I just let them know that I only planned to work until the Friday before that.

you really should give your employer notice after 20 weeks. Just in case there are certain procedures and forms that need to be filled out. In addition, this gives the employer time to plan if necessary to hire any temporary help.

Its pretty hard to give them 2 weeks notice when the exact date is unknown (unless you have a scheduled birth, which does occur). Let them know as early as possible- Im sure they can tell its coming anyway, but letting them know you are close is a good idea, because someone will need to cover while you are out. Good luck!

not necessarily 2 weeks, unless required by them. Typically you just let them know your due date, and how long you will be gone.
