I am interested in buying a tractor / lawn cutter. The majority of the use will be cutting grass but there might be minor hauling involved. Whcih make / model is a best bet for this type of work? What HP should the engine be? I am looking at a 42" cut on the blades. So it is a medium size tractor. Thank you.

18-20 is a good size. Get an engine with an oil filter. They have much better oiling systems. The automatic transmission is nice too. No shifting while mowing or hauling. You will like that feature.

at least 20 - 30HP and do NOT buy a John Deere... I had one and it was kind of like the HARLEY DAVIDSON of lawn tractors--NICE to look at, EXPENSIVE but it spent most of it's time in the shop .
