With my first. Nursing pads, diapers, wipes, clothes, Slippers, book, pads, Hygeine stuff, soap, shampoo, conditioner, pillows, bras, undies.
With my second it was all the same stuff, except I brought formula and bottles too.
With diapers, my hospital only provides size 1. So I brought newborn, and each time they brought me a new stack, I stashed them to take home for later. Heck, we have to pay for it anyways!! lol
I need to say, that really everyone seems to overpack. You don't really need too much. I fit all mine into a reg. sized suitcase. However, you do need to plan for the unexpected. I didn't think about that, and with my first I had a emergency c-section. I was only packed for 1 day, and had to stay for 4. As far as pjs, I would just wear the hospital gowns. They are not that bad, and you won't mess any of your stuff up. Also, I didn't feel like trying to get dress in pj's. Congratulations.

I roomy outfit to wear home, cosmetics, toothbrush & paste, hairbrush, shampoo & conditioner (a shower felt so good the day after), slippers or warm socks for walking around the corridors, baby's outfit for release day plus some onesies/sleepers while staying in the hospital (I also packed some blankets). You can call the hospital to ask if they'll supply diapers and wipes during your baby's stay, and what they may recommend you pack for your stay.

My own pj's & slippers, "personal items" like doerdorant, toothbrush and stuff like that, magazines/books, my address book so i would have everyone's number to call when the time came, camera, film (or digital) and batteries, shampoo and hair accessories (sp), movie (I had a tv and dvd player in my room), cd's and small radio, cell phone and charger, "going home" outfit for you and the baby (Have the carseat already installed in the car). Thats all I can remember (since it's been 7 years) but I hope that helps some.

I didn't have time to pack because my son was born almost 3 months early, but my mom brought be some comfortable pjs, my boss brought me a calling card, since cell phones are not allowed.and my husband brought me some DVDs. I was drugged up most of the time from the emergency c-section so don't really remember that much. www.babycenter.com has a complete list.

Warm socks. I am so grateful for warm socks. My feet were so cold when I was pushing. I never got around to packing a bag since I was admitted into hospital early, but when they induced me my labour coach brought me warm socks.

I didnt pack my husband did it since our son was premature but he brought PJ's and hygene items along with a pacifier, baby blanket, 3 pairs of baby PJ's and one "going home outfit". He also packed a set of clothing -under garments for myself too. Lucky for me my son went home with me he was 5 weeks early. My daughter was born at 23.5 weeks gestation so all that was brought to me then was going home clothing (for me not the baby obviously)
The hospital I delievered my son at provided all diapers/wipes/blankets/hats/ready to feed formula and sent us home with some(anything that was on my childs cart went home with us) . They provided everything the baby would need while we were there including wipes and so forth. They even sent us home with a gift basket of fruit/meats/cheeses and sparkling applejuice!

I had a pillow, change of clothes and toiletries. Remember you have to bring everything (+more) back home. I didnt need much more. They give you just about everything in the hospital.
