18 is no where near a record even down on a mortal level (not counting the celebrities)...
I think I am at around 48 total that I have owned personally... and still going ...
and I have friends that make my count look pretty small ... one friend of mine (around 65 years old now) has over 20 bikes all in running condition in his personal workshop at his home in South Texas, and then has 3-5 at his cabin in Colorado, 3-5 at his beach home in Florida ... oh yeah, those are just his off-road bikes ... he also has a herd of specialty street machines that he has bought over the years (3 goldwings, 3 Harley full dressers, a number of big dual sport bikes, then several other various sports bikes)...(must be nice to be a rich old phart)...
4 in my garage at present --- KTM525EXC, KTM540MXC (son's bike but I use riding MX), Kawasaki KDX220 (fun trail/play bike), Honda CRF230 (daughters bike but I use for working cattle)...

I doubt it is a record. There are many celebritied and huge bike fans that have many more.
Personally I have had 97 Honda CBR 600 and now have 2005 GSXR 750. I wouldnt trade the GSXR for the world. It is a fantastic bike.

I built my first bike at age 10, 41 years later I have personally owned 26 bikes, started with dirt bikes, then went to street bikes, my last 5 have all been Harleys, including my '07 Ultra classic that I bought last July.

29 ( I believe) counting the 3 I have now. It's even possible I lost count of a couple . I do have 10 years on you and 6 of the bikes have been in the past 10 years.
So you are right up there.

As far as a record --- not even close --- sorry.
This old man who runs a bike shop, currently owns 12 motorcycles --- these are not for sale, but his own personal collection. And he has had probably 50 or so previous to that.
Then you have these celebrities who collect them (they don't even know how to ride, but they still collect them).
As for me --- I'm at the bottom of the list --- only 4.

I've had 1. Harley 1980 Wide Glide. Original owner and still riding it today.
It's getting close to 400,000 miles and is a great bike.

18, 29, 48 bikes??? Sounds like to me you folks have some real credit problems if you can't hang onto a bike. Next time try paying for the bike in full.
