Needless to say, I don't fare too well at parties, since I don't go too much for idle chitchat. Instead, I like to get into intense conversations about subjects that interest me or else discuss some sort of deep emotional issue. In fact, one of the reasons why I like Y!A so much is because I get to discuss stuff here that I can't discuss with most people outside of the computer. Does anyone else here feel the same way?

Yep, I have the same issue. Have you tried college? Take a philosophy or John Milton class and you'll have plenty of topics with your study group. Or change the subject to one of the "big three: politics, religion or sex. This inevitably starts a debate and livens any conversation. Or just blurt out something ridiculous like, "did you hear that they found Osama?" Instigate, incite and play. After all, when we're surrounded by dolts, we're the smartest person in the room, right? So it's our duty to lead, right? Take charge, debate, enliven, astonish.

Seems like I've "been there, done that" with the idle chitchat. I'd rather take a walk in the park and start up a conversation with a bum laying on the bench and ask him whats happened in his life and why hes where hes at now. Anything other than the weather, aunties bunions or juniors excellent grades. : )

Consider yourself in good company. I tend to avoid such parties, club scene, or any other impromptu social events altogether. To me, they're just "meat markets" for uncontrollably hormone-crazed drones, and such idle chit-chat is merely fodder to accomplish their next "conquests." LOL

Basically such small talk is a waste of my valuable time. I gain nothing from such gibberish whereas meaningful and insightful conservation and debate can really pay off in my everlasting quest for self improvement.

Ha! That happened to me last night when I was coming back to my apartment(I just asked a similar question a second ago about it). She was talking about water bugs and how she was getting bit. She even pulled up the back of her shorts revealing part of her butt to show me bites. Keira Knightley this woman was not. I really just wanted to go into my apartment. A perfect day is pretty much I come and go and no one stops to tell me stupid things.

Your not alone. I am marked as a social reject... based soley on the fact I don't like to participate in the useless and unproductive face to face BS that some people THRIVE on.
