For instance, if you like a certain band, or a certain video game, or a certain TV show, or a certain brand of clothing, aren't you basically just trying to retrieve the same feeling you got from the first time experiencing that certain band, or video game, or TV show, or brand of clothing?

Aren't you basically trying to repeat history?

We wish to reclaim the purity of what we know
as we knew it when it was new to us.

But--and I write as guilty of this as Anyone I know--
ultimately, it is a Vanity, and a Vice, but we
are designed this way, so live it and love it
but remember that perhaps even our
memories are not to be controlled
possessions.

I preach not, nor is this pontification.

If anything, it is one of my own major laments.

It's a choice. You can get caught in past experiences good or bad and continue to rethink those experiences trying to make them last. Or you can take each moment for what it is and creat new experiences.
