I think they're beautiful but to each his own. The mushrooms are most likely living on the dead tree roots or buried construction lumber. Getting rid of them is next to impossible. The only good news is it only will take them a couple of more years to finish the job. In the mean time you can kick'm, pick'm or mow'm, they only bloom a short time each year and are gone until next. RScot

Mushrooms/toadstools are usually found where there is something, normally wood, decaying underground. This gets really bad in an area where a tree was cut down and the stump was ground instead of removed. Not much can be done except cut them down.

A lawn that is too heavily fertilizied can cause mushrooms and other parastic pests to get hold. Reduce the amount of fertilizer you are applying to your turf. In alot of circumstances you may have to excavate the area and remove the soil to completly stop any further mushrooms from occuring.

It's normal to have mushrooms and toadstools pop up after it rains. They are spores from the fungus (fungi?) living in soil. I never do anything about them. It is possible to use a fungicide eliminate the fungus, although this can be an expensive choice and not particulary kind to the land.

They aren't mushrooms, per se, they're toadstools. You can't prevent them because they're caused by moisture in the earth. Spoors in the air take root in warm, moist soil.

There's a possibility that the soil your yard is very hard and doesn't drain well, or that you have too much shade. (My yard is a combination of the two, so I get plenty of toadstools in spring and fall.)
