In my opinion, replacing him with Norm Turner was a mistake. Letting Marty go for a 14-2 record is a bad decision!

I'm a skins fan :)

At least he can get them to the playoffs and get another chance?

Norv tanked in Washington, what made the Chargers feel he was going to do better for the Bolts? Norv was a great offensive coordinator but never could get the job done as a head coach. People bring up Marty's not so great playoff record, well at least his teams made the playoffs. It was a franchise changing screw up. They better get rid of Norv before he does any more damage to the team.

I think San Diego fans have been cheated since the Chargers fired Marty Schottenheimer back in February & hire Norv Turner as their coach. Schottenheimer did great by leading San Diego to a winning season last year & what's Norv Turner doing with the team? Making the team into a loser & a laughing stock in the NFL. I don't know why Norv Turner was hired as a Head Coach for this team, but he has a tendency of changing things his way by wanting to make a team a winner. Somehow, it didn't work in Washington or in Oakland, & it's not getting any better in San Diego. I think it was a poor choice for San Diego to fire Marty Schottenheimer & to have him replaced by Norv Turner is the biggest mistake ever for this organization to have ever make in franchise history. Turner will be fired after this season.

Marty's record in the playoffs was 5-13, despite five seasons where his teams had 12+ victories. He's a good regular-season coach, but there's never been anyone who overthinks as bad as Schott did when the playoffs rolled around.

Check out his playoff success:

1995 - Chiefs go 13-3, lose their first game of the playoffs to the 9-7 Colts

1997 - Chiefs win division at 13-3, lose opening playoff game to the Broncos

2004 - Chargers go 12-4, lose opening playoff game to the 10-6 Jets

2006 - Chargers go 14-2, lose to the Pats

Norv Turner might not be the answer, but they had to try something when it came to winning in the playoffs.

Marty has not been a winner in the playoffs thus far but at least he regularly takes his teams there. A lot of NFL teams would give their right arm for that.. Marty's bad luck in the playoffs are a result of over-thinking and bad luck, both of which will get better the more you are there.
They should have kept Marty and kept getting to the playoffs and let Marty work out his post-season problems.
Norv is a great coordinator but he has proven to not be a good head coach. Even if he can pull them together this year, he will slowly drag this team down to mediocrity.

Well, I can understand the Bolts' fans disenchantment with Marty's post-season play. However, to replace him with Turner in an effort to win post-season games doesn't make sense. Turner's regular season record boasts losing 3 out of five games. So how do you expect to get to the playoffs. I think it was a dumb move. Also, one sure doesn't hear any hype about LT being the best running-back of all time anymore.

I think Norv Turner will not be there next year. I don't understand why the fired Marty. They should have given him 1 more year. There were other coaches that would've done a better job.

I agree. Firing Marty was an iffy decision, but bringing in Turner was a bad one. They'd be better off giving Marty another chance.

Going from Marty to Norv Turner, not a good move.

Yes. It was a mistake. For the record, the coach's name is Norv Turner. But they'd be just as good/bad with Norm Petereson as their head coach.

I'm not a fan, but I would definitely say they think hiring Norv Turner was a mistake. I don't understand how he continues to get head coaching jobs.
