i have a wirlessr router. and my room mate cant get it. Her room is too far away maybe? The router is up stairs, and her room is down stairs, around 50 feet away. Does it have to be a certain kind of router, to pick up that far? thanks

The strength of the signal, and what is between the router, and the computer will make a difference. At this point, I would just say that the router is not strong enough.

Put the router in a more centralized location. If that does not work think about getting a router with a longer signal range. May I suggest a linksys, Netgear, Or Buffalo router.

Does she have a wireless card in her computer? If not you will have to buy one. I know my computer did not have one and I couldnt get the wireless in our house. You can get them pretty cheap though.
