Figures have just been released showing executives pay rises are still double the national average. Would you say this is a slap in the face for nurses, post al workers etc?

I agree with you that executive pay rises are far too high compared to working people, but at least executives are doing a kind of worthwhile job. What about footballers who make more money than most executives for kicking a ball around a field? Some footballers earn about 10 times more than the Prime Minister earns in a year.

Executive pay rises are due to market forces of supply and demand.UK universities are producing less number of MBAs and HRD personnel. There are restrictions on immigration. The executives are short in supply, where as nurses etc are available in plenty and immigration has made supply to outstrip demand and the wages are bound to be low.
The Govt should have clear HRD plan and policy for long term wage stability

No

Last time I checked the U.K. was still a free country.

If the nurses, postal workers or others out there making an average wage wanted they could start a company and God willing they could become a CEO and get a golden parachute.

Or they can buy a lotto ticket and dream.

In the victorian times rich people were fat. Now, it is the less well off people that are the larger waisted individuals!

absolutely, it never fails to amaze me that incomes for people that do dead easy jobs like accounting or finance are so much more comparitively than nurses, social workers, cleaners etc. you should be paid more according to the type of job you do and serving the public, is more valuable than accountancy etc.
