For all the 1 run games they have lost, and for all the runners left stranded as K.C. left filled their power spots with 2 rookies (no offense to them, they have been great), if they had a power hitter who could hit 30+ homers, or even 2 hitters that could hit 23+ homers, do you think that Kansas City would have more of a chance at having at least an 80 win season?

They do need one more stick to supplement Butler and, down the road, Gordon as a power threat. Emil Brown is NOT the answer, nor is Mike Sweeney. John Buck has some pop, but is an inconsistent hitter - all or nothing with him. Butler will DH or play first, depending on who else the Royals bring in. Sweeney and Brown are out (LaRue also), the rest of the offense is set, and once the pitching stabilizes (Meche, Bannister, and Grienke/Soria make a solid 1-2-3 to build on), the Royals are gonna make some noise

The Royals are a team on the rise and it looks like they could be better in the up coming years. I really do not believe that their lack of power is their major problem however. While it is true they are lacking power (99 homeruns) just look at the Angels (118 homeruns) who might be the best team in baseball. The Angels are also lacking power but they have everything else and they are a winner. A winning team starts with pitching and the Royals have a good young pitcher in Brian Bannister but he will need some help, he can't do it alone. Royals management is going to have to commit to putting together a winning team and be willing to spend some money on players that will help to make them competitive. Alex Gordon, Teahen, and Butler are a good start but they need much more.

It takes alot more than one person to make a good solid team. They have a power hitter they just need better strategy and better pitching. maybe a veteran pitcher would help the team out. It might take a few years before they do well but with those rookies im sure theyll be better off for the future.

They do have a power hitter -- Billy Butler. However, even when he's in his prime they will need more than just him to win 80 games. I know that they have Gordon too but he was over-hyped and I doubt he'll do what they say he would -- 40+ HRs, 30 SBs, 320 AVG, 110 RBI's. There's no way that happens.

The Royals could actually compete with their current roster, their players just need experience and time to learn how to play at the major league level. Commentators/former players say a franchise is turning things around when they have a lot of one run losses. Usually, those types of teams are one ore two players away from having a winning season. In KC's case its probably 2 relievers.

If the Royals had Hank Aaron in his prime, they couldn't win 80+ unless he could pitch too.
