• Your birth plan
• Dressing gown -- useful if you end up pacing hospital corridors in early labour
• Slippers
• Socks -- believe it or not, your feet can get cold during labour
• An old nightdress or a T shirt to wear in labour. It might get a bit messy, so don't buy anything specially to wear in hospital.
• Massage oil or lotion if you would like to be massaged during your labour
• Lip balm
• Snacks and drinks for you while you are in labour, or some glucose tablets to keep you going
• Watch with a second hand, to time contractions
• Digital camera or camcorder. If you want to bring a camcorder, check with the hospital beforehand -- not all of them allow them in delivery rooms.
• Relaxation materials: books, magazines, games etc.
• Pictures of someone or something you love (the inspiration you may need to see you through to the end)
• TENS pain relief machine if you are planning to use one
• Toiletries
• Water spray, or a hand-held fan to keep you cool
• Music to listen to -- take a battery-operated machine as most hospitals won't let you plug things in. Some hospitals provide their own CD players -- again, check first.
For your birth partner
• A change of clothes
• Snacks and drinks -- you don't want a dehydrated, hungry birth partner looking after you!
For after the birth
• Going-home outfit, and loose comfortable clothes to wear while you're in hospital. It will take a while for your tummy to go down so you'll be still wearing maternity clothes when you come home -- sorry!
• Nursing bras -- two or three
• Breast pads for when your milk comes in
• Maternity pads -- a couple of packs
• Nightshirt or T-shirt -- front opening shirts are useful for breastfeeding
• Toiletries
• Towels, hairbrush, toothbrush and toothpaste
• Old knickers/cheap knickers/disposable knickers -- don't bring your best ones as they will get messy. If you end up having a caesarean, the NCT does brilliant stretchy knickers that are comfortable over your scar.
• Arnica tablets to help with bruising after the birth. Although there's no conclusive evidence that they work, many women report that taking arnica helps reduce bruising and helps the healing process.
• Ear plugs, in case you end up on a noisy ward!
• Address book, plus lots of change or a prepaid phone card for all the calls you may want to make. You may find you cannot use your mobile phone in the hospital building.
For your baby
• An infant car seat -- some hospitals won't let you leave without one
• One outfit for the trip home (all-in-one stretchy outfits are easiest)
• Two to three babygros and vests for baby to wear while you are in hospital. Some hospitals provide baby gowns for your baby to wear during his stay.
• Baby blanket (a warm one if weather is cold)
• Nappies
• One pair of socks or booties
• Hat
• Jacket or snowsuit for winter babies.
• Muslin squares
Once you've got your hospital bag organised, remind yourself of the first signs of labour so you know when it's the real thing!

Normal things like going on a trip- a couple pairs of comfortable elastic clothes and comfortable cotton underwear you don't mind getting stained. A nursing bra if you are going to nurse. Any toiletries you want ( if you want to do your makeup- have at it) I would bring a book or something small to work on while the baby is sleeping and you don't have visitors. The hospital provides pads ( for down there but have plenty big nigh time ones for at home) and everything else really. Oh- a pair of slippers is really nice as well. Have the car seat ready in the car and have a cute outfit for baby. Congratulations and best of luck!

I purely had my son 3 weeks in the past. I packed a backpack. I put in it, a hygiene bag, some thing to study (yet you will no longer have the time... %. it purely in case), a black pen to fill out the delivery certificates counsel, your going homestead clothing for you (be certain they are dishevelled and mushy), one set of nursing pads (a minimum of), sanitary pads (you will choose a minimum of one for the line), slippers (in the journey that your ft are swollen), somewhat one diaper bag, the toddler's circulate homestead outfit, a skinny blanket, a thicker blanket, somewhat one bottle (purely to have it), a pair of diapers, a skinny equipment of wipes (they permit you're taking homestead the leftover diapers and wipes, that the wellness midsection gives you you, in the journey that your youngster has any leftover), probable some toddler ointment and don't ignore the formulation (enfamil with lipil, became constantly ultimate for my young infants... it has the yellow wrapper on it). It looks like lots, besides the shown fact that it rather is unquestionably no longer that lots. do no longer soak up lots better than that because of the fact they are going to probably choose your journey to hold interior the automobile seat, so they are conscious of it rather is okay. the only different ingredient you may choose, is a credit or debit card, in case you choose those wellness midsection photos, yet those regularly suck. i wish this helped. :) playstation - I exceptionally much forgot... do no longer ignore the digicam like my dad did while i became born. otherwise, your youngster might finally end up insisting for years, that they have got been observed, lol.

Best advice is to speak to the maternity unit but ideas as follows.
for mum - clean nightdress, maternity pads, knickers (disposable ones are best) towel, dressing gown, slippers, also u can take ur make up bag (especially after the event and the world and his wife visit!) breast pads (if planning on breast feeding) loose fitting clothes for going home in
For baby - Nappies, clean vests, babygro, scratch mittens, wash things, not sure if hospitals provide baby first bottle (if bottle feeding) so ask the maternity unit.
Snow suit (esp in this weather) and car seat! also don't forget a hat to keep baby's head warm

After your baby is born, you’ll want to keep things simple. Here’s a list of things you’ll want to bring to the hospital:
* Comfortable clothes, including something loose and flowing to wear home
* Robe and nightgown
* Nursing bras
* Slippers
* Sanitary pads
* Toiletries (shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, skin care lotion, hairbrush, deodorant, etc.)
* A few pairs of maternity panties
* A book to read because when the baby is asleep and you're on your own, you will probably get bored
* A pocket name book if you haven’t chosen a name for your baby
Get your partner to bring in some drink (soft drinks unless you want to sample Hospital water) and maybe some snacking items.
Congratulations on the imminent arrival of your son.

Basically, you need to take everything. The only thing the hospital will provide is formula if you're not breast feeding.
So, for the baby: clothes, nappies, wipes, outerwear and car seat for going home.
You: clothes, pads, loads of magazines and change for the phone.
Good luck. An exciting time for you :-)

Well here in the US most hospitals provide the baby's first outfit, hat and blanket. Wipes, diapers, formula and sometimes pacifiers.
I only brought:
Coming home clothes for myself
Travel sized toiletries
Cell phone/charger
Camera
Chapstick
Gum/Mints
Change for vending machines
2 coming home outfits for baby
Blanket
Carseat
Boppy pillow for nursing and cuddling
Everything I had fit into 1 bag (minus the seat and pillow)

I brought clothes for the baby, a digital camera so I could take lots of pictures, a set of clothes to leave the hospital in, lip balm (VERY useful, as your lips will get really dry), a journal to write about the experience, a hairbrush...and a ton of other stuff I didn't use!

Take everything!
Cant comment on your hospital but you need to take everything u would need for ur self and baby.
Look on a few websites and they give good check lists, i used mothercare!
U will need clothes, what ur gonna give birth in (nighty/t-shirt), slippers, something to entertain u - books, mags etc, anything u use to keep u calm/comfy, birth plan, food, drinks, camera, cds, phone numbers, mobile.
Baby will need blanket, vest, baby grow/outfit, nappies, wipes, hat, cardigan/coat, bottles, milk, car seat, dummy.
I really enjoyed choosing my hospital stuff and i gave birth the night after packing my bag! xx

I just had my baby. You don't need pj's, you will be in theirs the whole time. An outfit to bring the baby home in. They provide all the pads you will need. You may want: shampoo, soap, lotion, brush, toothbrush and toothpaste, makeup and a change of clothes. Preferably something loose, because you will be sore and swollen. Maybe something to keep you occupied, unless you like a lot of TV. A CAMERA!!!! CONGRATS!!
