Someone figured out my password and went in and forwarded my emails to others - is this illegal?

YES it is
If you knoe who, you can report them to police for unauthorised access to electronic systems

It depends on where the email system is actually located, and where the person is.

But as an alternative, you can also sue them if you can show that some sort of damages occurred. Even if its stress or just having to get a new account.

Whether it is against federal law or not, if your password leaked out it is an ideal cyber-terrorist opportunity. Most all of the web-based emails will let you change your password however.

Can you get arrested? Chances are slim.. unless you steal something and use it (e.g. credit card information).

Hacking has always been dangerous, which is why most of the major hackers out there are some of the most intelligent people you will ever meet.

If you look in your Sent folder, you might be able to determine who did it.

Concentrate on improving security by using a better password.

If you think someone used your computer, set up a USER account with its own password.

Yes it is illegal but you must have solid proof against the person concerned if you are to bring charges.

in view that digital mail is an open technique, and she or he has administration of who's digital mail she gets, there is not any 'prank digital mail' or 'harassment' in contact. become somewhat dumb of you to digital mail her in the frst place, once you already know she 'hates' you.

I think yes, because in my view, it's the same as getting in someone's personal mail, which is a federal offense.
