My son is fascinated with Star Wars, and is going to be Yoda for Halloween. Unfortunately, they don't make a Yoda costume in his size and I am forced to make it myself. Any ideas on the costume for him would be great!!! ( He's only 19 months but is already 37 inches tall and 32 lbs!!! )

I know where you're coming from! My son is 18 months old, 34 inches tall, and 35 pounds! He's not fat, he looks rather light, until you try to pick him up! If you live in Missouri or Illinois, you can buy a Yoda costume for his size at Johnny Brocks. In "Source" below, I've added links for places to buy toddler Yoda costumes. If you really want to make it yourself, the best I can think of would be to go around to your different craft stores until you find the right size sheet of greenish foam, and buy it along with grey, black, etc. for the details of Yoda's face, then cut it all out and glue it together using Tacky Glue. That would make an easy mask. You can go to WalMart or JoAnn Fabrics, Hancock Fabrics, etc. and buy a canvasy material to make his robe. To make his hands and feet you could also use foam sheets and elastic to keep it over his hands and shoes. You could also make the hands and feet out of fabric if you're sewing-inclined. You should be able to find a nice cheap brown fabric at any fabric/craft store as well. Good luck!

Yoda is pretty much defined by the ears and a green tinge to the skin... Have a friend that can crochet? Check out this link for a quick pattern for infant yoda ears: http://www.boingboing.net/2005/10/21/crocheted-infant-yod.html
Another option: Yoda dog costumes come with great yoda ears for about $15. Salvage what you can of the rest of the costume. Finish off baby with some non-toxic face paint. And, here is what I did for my kids... They drew on themselves (usually right before a visit with the inlaws) with markers every chance they got. The markers are non-toxic. Consider making some "wrinkles" with a non-toxic easy to wash off black maker, then using the sheer green face paint over it. I used to do non-professional stage make-up, and was successful with this trick. The robes are the easy part, but consider having fun with the chubby little feet as well!

They do have toddler sizes, but if you want to make one,. the robes look pretty easy, and the hat seams to be a basic cap with ears.

Here is a link to a basic hat, and then you can just draw out an ear pattern. I'd use fleece.

This month's stitch information magazine says you ought to charge exertions at $10.00 - $15.00 in step with hour, then upload the cost of fabric and multiply the entire factor with the aid of 4. So on your case that is $280.00. So for sure you will possibly prefer to streamline your technique or come across a extra effective cost on aspects. i comprehend that this is totally sluggish to make the 1st one among something, then it get quicker as you come across person-friendly the right thank you to shop time. i does not subject even merchandising them in the event that they may well be offered extra cost-effective in a shop someplace. human beings do not quite care that this is hand-crafted, regrettably. .
