Because it would have to change for every day of the week, and it sure sounds funny on some of them! --Sunnight, Monnight, Tuesnight, Wedsnight, Thursnight, Frinight and Satnight. Think of the implications!
It's a fun idea but it won't fly. Some people have trouble even realizing what day it is at all, not to mention whether it is six in the evening or six in the morning... have mercy, I'm one of them sometimes, so mercy please! Let us figure things out the old-fashioned way, looking at the sun whenever it becomes visible, and the little calendar thing on the 'puter. Thank you very much; and from here-- good morning! Because a night is a subset of a day, while a day encompasses the whole 24 hours in addition to also being the term used for the daylight hours of that 24 hour period. So a night is part of a day, but a day is never part of a night...of course, you can call it whatever you like, for my part! Cheers!

What I want to know is if Christmas Eve is the night prior to Christmas Day, then why isn't Thurs Eve the night before Thurs Day?
