You belong to me, by Jo Stafford, Jan 13 1953, was the first female at number one in the British charts, Helen Shapiro with, You Don`t Know Me, was number one on Aug 8 1963, I think that you will have a problem finding out who went straight in at number one because some that they say went in were often first at about forty before the public became aware of the record, so not really straight in.
