Orion was a very tall man in Greek mythology.
Artemis (Diana for romans) was in love with him, but Apollo her brother didn't like him.
He challenged her when he was very far away (so he appeared very small) to hit him with an arrow.
When she killed him and saw what she had done she changed him into a constellation.
So it is a man's name.
