Why Greece is not accepted Republic of Macedonia?`?

The question confuses authentic Macedonia of Greece with the modern republic of Slavic/Albanian-Macedonia!
Authentic-Macedonia is in Greece. And of course the authentic Macedonians are Greeks!
Macedonia or Macedon it is today the biggest regions of Greece and it has played a most significant part in Greek history!
The real Macedonia in Greece was the birth place of Alexander the Great!
Alexander created a gigantic Greek empire and he is responsible for the spreading of Greek culture and language around the world!
Do NOT confuse authentic Macedonia in Greece with a small state that emerged from Yugoslavia. That small state is called Republic of Makedonija or Slavic/Albanian-Macedonia.
That state decided to use as an international name the Greek name Macedonia and of course that caused and still is causing confusion with real Macedonia in Greece!
United Nations and European Union has forced the state of Makedonijia (Slavic/Albanian Macedonia) to negotiate with Greece in order to reach to an acceptable name for international use { For those who don’t know Republika Makedonja is officially translated by UN (and officially recognized by UN and European Union) as Former Yugoslavia Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).}
Also a lot of people don’t know that the international name of a state is decided by international law, international agreements and treaties under the authority of United Nations! You can not choose what ever name you like for international use! An example is what happened to Austria! After the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and from 1918 it was known as the Republic of German-Austria (Republik Deutsch-Österreich), but the state was forced to change its name to "Republic of Austria" in 1919 peace Treaty of Saint-Germain! After the war every state that wishes to enter the United Nation had to make sure that its international name wasn’t violating the interest of any other country and was not against international law!
This is the case for Makedonija (Slavic/Albanian-Macedonia). It can use its own name (Makedonija) but for international use it has to follow the UN resolutions!
The funny think is that because that state uses the Greek name Macedonia some of the Slav-Macedonians (the Slav inhabitants and not the Albanians of the Makedonija) actually believe that they are the real Macedonians and that they are not Slavs!
This of course is against their country’s policy and they violate their government’s effort for stability!
Here are some official statements from the Government of FYROM (Makedonija or Slavic?Albanian-Macedonia)
here is what the first President of FYROM (Slav Macedonia), Kiro Gligorov said: “We are Slavs who came to this area in the sixth century ... we are not descendants of the ancient Macedonians" (Foreign Information Service Daily Report, Eastern Europe, February 26, 1992, p. 35). Also, Mr Gligorov declared: "We are Macedonians but we are Slav Macedonians. That's who we are! We have no connection to Alexander the Greek and his Macedonia… Our ancestors came here in the 5th and 6th century" (Toronto Star, March 15, 1992).
On 22 January 1999, Ambassador of the FYROM to USA, Ljubica Achevska gave a speech on the present situation in the Balkans. In answering questions at the end of her speech Mrs. Acevshka said: "We do not claim to be descendants of Alexander the Great … Greece is Macedonia’s second largest trading partner, and its number one investor. Instead of opting for war, we have chosen the mediation of the United Nations, with talks on the ambassadorial level under Mr. Vance and Mr. Nemitz." In reply to another question about the ethnic origin of the people of FYROM, Ambassador Achevska stated that "we are Slavs and we speak a Slav language”.
On 24 February 1999, in an interview with the Ottawa Citizen, Gyordan Veselinov, FYROM'S Ambassador to Canada, admitted, "We are not related to the northern Greeks who produced leaders like Philip and Alexander the Great. We are a Slav people and our language is closely related to Bulgarian." He also commented, “There is some confusion about the identity of the people of my country".
Moreover, the Foreign Minister of the FYROM, Slobodan Casule, in an interview to Utrinski Vesnik of Skopje on December 29, 2001, said that he mentioned to the Foreign Minister of Bulgaria, Solomon Pasi, that they "belong to the same Slav people.”
(Even the Slav-Macedonian archaeologist Bajana Mojsov told in The World Today the symbolic weight attached to the Vergina Star was archaeologically absurd - but politically inevitable.

As for the existence of non Greek Macedonians or Slav-Macedonians in authentic Macedonia of Greece I am sorry but there aren’t any!
In recent years a political party appeared which is a coalition of an extreme left party (called OAKKE “group for the restoration of the communist party of Greece), with few gay/lesbian activist groups, and a small group of people claiming that they were Slav-Macedonians of Greece.
That coalition used the name rainbow and it expressed views of the extreme left and tried to link every unprivileged group to their cause.
That party received in the area of real (Greek) Macedonia the total amount of 2,955 votes (0.008% of the votes). In the election of 2004 the party did not participate!
Let me remind you also the official Ottoman census of the Hilmi Pasha
(Not Greek, not Bulgarian)(1904) gives the following numbers:
Vilaeti of Thessaloniki
Greeks: 373,227 Bulgarians: 207,317
Vilaeti of Monastiri (now called Bitola!)
Greeks: 261,283 Bulgarians: 78,412
Santzaki of Scopje
Greeks: 13,452 Bulgarians: 172,735
As you can see there is no trace of any non-Greek Macedonian or non-Bulgarian Macedonian. Actually you can see that there are many Greeks in FYROM who still are forced to hide their identities!

As for Ovicha answer the user doenst know that all the states around the word are either ethnic or multi ethnic! Greece is an ethnic state like a lot other around the world!and all the advanced states have immigrant (both illegal and legal).

According the Hellenic government statistics, immigrants that have valid Residence Permits, as of January 15, 2004, Held by Foreign Nationals,
(Excludes European Union nationals and ethnic Greeks) give the following number: 228,401 legal immigrants. The number of illegal immigrants is estimated between 300.00-500,000. As happens in every country in the word illegal immigrants do not count in any official census (mainly because they do not answer any questions). As you can see there are a lot of foreigners that live and prosper in Greece! So the official population is 10,964,020 and the estimation of the population is 11,244,118.

But I'll give you an honest answer as an archaeologist: Come and visit our museums of Macedonia, see what the Greek language is written on the vases, the grave stones, etc, visit Thessaloniki with its magnificent Bysantine Churches and read about its history which is tottally Greek, and then bother ask why Greece does not accept your fake and malicious claims.

Until 1944 there has never been such a state or province or former Yogoslavia under the name of Macedonia. It was Dictator Tito who adopted this name for the province called Vardarska (after the river crossing it which in Slavic languages is called Vardar), because he wanted to hurt Greece for belonging to NATO, while his country was a communist one.
Therefore, he renamed this province to Macedonia, stealing this name from the Greek northern Province of Macedonia.
Tito created also a fake and immoral propaganda about a "Macedonian nation" (which never existed) and "Macedonian language" which is only a Bulgarian idiom.
In fact, the population of this tiny State is consisted of Bulgarians, Albanians and Gypsies, and, dspite the haterade among them, the only thing that unites them all is their haterade and envy against Greece, which has been cultivated by the communist propaganda and adopted by the "democratic" governments, alwaysfor the same reasons: To feed people with false history and pride, instead of real income, developement and progress.
So, their governments feed the FYROMIANS with pride about Alexander the Great being their ancestor (!!!!!) and keep them calm not to ask for a satisfactory status of life.
Greece will never accept theft and distortion of its history, as well as the "Macedonian"/Bulgarian propaganda lies about a minority which does not exist and, Greece being an open and touristic country, anyone can verify and confirm this fact.

Macedonia is a area of Greece.
This matter is very confusing, but lets look at it like this: A new country is fomed, They decide to call themselfs Texas. Then, what is the "correct" Texas? The state in USA, or the new country?

Now, on top of that, the new country called Texas are trying to steal the american state Texta's history.

Also, I want refer that in Republic of Macedonia Greeks are not forced to cover own identity, but Macedonia haven't many Greeks, because country border with Aegean Macedonia.Before 1913 there was Greek minority in Aegean Macedonia because bordering with Greece ,In 1913 year Aegean Macedonia have been occupied by Greece, in 1946, Greeks forced Macedonians proclaimed self Greeks, Macedonian language is forbidden in Greece, they who didn't accept were baned and killed from Macedonia. There many real Macedonians from Aegean Macedonia in Republic of Macedonia, Voivodina in Serbia, Ukraine, Canada, Greeks most from Crete took them lend.
If they tell honestly truth that they occupied Macedonia and killed children of Alexander of Macedon, that means they should be beck Macedonia for Macedonians, but who beck lend given like present, no one in this World, so don't except of Greeks to accept Macedonians.

Theory that Slavs come from Carpates, haven't Archaeological prove. opposite, Archaeological evidences show that same people live on territory in Macedonia with centuries. Interesting is that before 6 century Slavs are not mentioned since other tribes are very often mentioned before 6 century, there are not Archaeological evidences about Slavs near Carpates. Somerio, sorry, but there are not Archaeological evidences on Greek before 5 BC in Macedonia, Greek language in original ancient Greece are founded even before 1500 BC,there are Archaeological evidences cover in Museum of Athens that Macedonia was different, not Greek.If you buy souvenir from Turkey and after 1000 year archaeologist find your souvenir, they will think that Greece was Turkish, absolutely not.

Check this: They say that Greece is populated with Greek 98%, other 2%. The Greek Government states there are no ethnic divisions in Greece!! There's no such country in the world without ethnic minorities!! Outrageous!
