I should report your spelling! Come on man - "termanoligy"? What do they teach you in UK schools these days?
(An American "idiot" who can spell a whole lot better than you.) PS: Your poem stinks.
PPS: Sorry, everybody's a critic, right?

I think you are mixing things.

America is a land of free speech.

Yahoo! is a corporation.

You do not have the right of free speech in a corporation or a profit seeking company.

I understand you may want that and that you might somehow think this right extends from the Constitution, but it does not.

Corporations, such as Yahoo! that foot the bill for their services have the right to regulate those services. When you signed up with Yahoo! and Yahoo!Answers, you agreed to the User Agreement. You acknowledged you would abide by these rules. Now all of a sudden, you have not only forgotten the agreement, but also feel a need to change the agreement.

I am sorry, but I have no compassion for your plight.

It is a particular pet peeve of mine. The system seems to encourage false reporting so I have gotten violations for things like saying NOT and that I don't understand the question. In these particular occasions I was told that I didn't answer the question. NOT was perfectly clear answer and the question I didn't understand wasn't a question but a bunch of words with a ? in the middle. Apparently Y/A about the stupidity of the violation and will defend it to the death.

From what I have seen, you get "notices" from Y/A if the post is reported but not if it just gets a "thumbs down". I have won some appeals and lost some. One appeal got answered with "We are not allowed to tell you why you have a violation". Not even the question it came from. I have started to report rants, non-questions, blatant advertisers, and non-sensical posts because they are starting to get way out of hand. Opinions are just that and I may thumbs-up or down. I try to give the best answers I can to help people. When it starts to get too crowded with "junk posts" I will just go elsewhere. Those who give "smart- alec answers to bad questions instead of reporting them are just hurting themselves. You are just "feeding" the fire of idiots.

Depends on the violation. In your case, it was unnecessary. In many cases, it's unnecessary. But in some cases, like people posting links to malicious sites, or people who can't thing of any better reply to an argument than derogatory language, it is necessary. Me personally, I've rarely used it.

usually if you did nothing wrong and email them asking for specifics they'll overturn the violation and return your points...because a) some people just like to snitch on other people and YA knows this and b) they're too lazy to look into WHY you may be in violation

You are mistaken about free speech.

The 1st amendment covers speech free of GOVERNMENT censorship.

Y/A is a PRIVATE forum. They can censor anything they want.

Didn't anyone pay attention in US History?

So, yeah. You SHOULD feel really dumb. Complaining about free speech in a private setting IS pretty stupid!
