What if some President fabricated a vast number of lies about a false threat posed by some country thousands of miles away from America?

And used these lies to try and convince Americans that it was urgent for them to join the military and kill people in this other country, and spend trillions of tax dollars on an endless war against them.

And then suppose the American people said - "no, screw you, we know the truth" - and simply refused to fight?

Who? - we didn't all want the Iraq war. Take away the lies, and almost nobody wanted it.

Cool, but it would amount to an empty gesture....there aren't any 'imperialist wars' and haven't been for quite a long time

Maybe we can vow not to play hopscotch, too! I hear there was alot of that going around 50 years ago

There are approximately 300 million people in the United States. If we could get only 1-2% of the people to march and to demand a government that represents the will of the people, then we could change directions. If even this small a percentage of Americans organized, protested, and engaged in a workers' strike against the war, for a return of civil and human rights in this nation, and for just labor policies, then conditions would change for the better both in our country and in countries all around the world where so many of the poorest, most disenfranchised persons are subject to murder and torture by U.S. trained death squads.

What we need is a National Day of Protest. And now that the UAW is on strike, we should make it soon enough to piggyback upon the ongoing strike.

If all Americans simply refused to fight imperialistic wars the wars would quite simply not be fought.

If a president had fabricated such lies, the American people would march on the White House.

Unfortunately, Americans are to busy watching Nascar and Football to do anything about anything involving any lies, treasonous activity or the like.

He has already done the first two parts of your Question. But the third----"What if They gave a war and nobody came?" -Has been asked before. The place at Guantanamo bay would have to be cleared- but it would still not be big enough to hold all the reticent bodies so the best solution would be to pension them all off.. Vote for me as President and will put this into effect.

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "5th of might") is a close-by holiday in Mexico, normally celebrated interior the state of Puebla. it rather is no longer an mandatory federal holiday.[a million][2][3][4][5] the holiday commemorates an preliminary victory of Mexican forces led by way of known Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín over French forces interior the conflict of Puebla on might 5, 1862. The date is stated interior the U. S. and different places international as a party of Mexican background and satisfaction. a basic false impression interior the U. S. is that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico's Independence Day; Mexico's Independence Day is unquestionably September sixteen (dieciséis de septiembre in Spanish), that's the main severe nationwide patriotic holiday in Mexico. ~totally a weirdo :)

It’s a difficult scenario to imagine because government propaganda, helped by the media, normally convinces most people to support their leaders, especially in war situations. This applies to many countries around the world.

Once the people realize that they have been lied to then their reactions may be different. The military, however, usually remains under the control of the country’s leader and rebellion is rare. Such rebellions or mutinies are usually led by a small group of influential high-level military commanders.

Then I would probably be standing next to you protesting. But, as it stands, there are only a few spineless Americans who won't help protect our freedom and eliminate our country's threats. These are not imperialist wars. We all wanted this, but only true patriots have the resolve to finish it.

Don't go there with me again freaky person... 360-38 are pretty high tallies... What about our authorization for use of military force? 373-156

When that time comes I will make judgement at that time.

Until than I worry about when we free millions of people and allow them to create their own goverment.

When many are on record agreeing with the president about the threat.

When terrorists who bomb the WTC fled to Iran.

When know terrorists are caught in Iraq.

When we are dealing with a group of people who want us DEAD.

Considering all that and than some people can't even use the term imperialism correctly and they believe conisparcies that are not based in fact and will deny the threat is real.

Now that is something more troubling than a make believe situation you mention.

Then we would be a Country of pot smoking hippies (like your avatar) who get raped and pillaged by illegal aliens and fanatical Muslims... The U.S. would not last long in your hallucinogen induced left wing, liberal high...

When you stop eating mushrooms, open your eyes to the threat of fanatical Muslims and educate yourself about why they want to erase us from the earth. Educate yourself on how long they have had this state of mind...it has not been 20 years, it has been over 2,000 years.

What you and the High Times crew need to do is start preparing for the next attack...

Say hi to Alice in Wonderland and Willy Wonka for me....

Geez! Just another lefty trying to start fires....

What if people realized that our 100% volunteer military really has no problem going and fighting?

What if people realized that neo-hippy peace freaks don't join the military and so all their posturing about refusing to fight is essentially moot.
