Nothing shines through this question as to the elusiveness of TRUTH as what most of the people who answered said,'I don't look for the truth...' Perhaps that is why it eludes us until we can prove it is the truth we found. Better to say, that the important detail we all must first present is the fact; that we should try to find and use the truth for the benefit of others. "And the truth shall set you free.'

Its elusive as people attempt to exclude themselves from the truth as much as possible, and this in itself makes it elusive. Furthermore, the truth is sometimes censored, and the truth may have its pro's and con's on society.

However, the truth is the trtuh, and this makes it important. Living in a fantasy then suddenly waking up to face the truth never does anybody any good. Without the truth, the world would collapse.

Maybe that could be changed to without lying, the world would collapse. Hm.., I think I may have a question to ask...

I don't believe in any absolute objective 'Truth' and thats one of the reasons why its so elusive.

For example Newtonian physics, such as the laws of conservation of mass and energy, were once thought to be absolutely true, the bedrock of the hard sciences, but then Einstein came along he disproved it through his theory of relativity. Newtonian physics is still very useful in the real world but just not absolutely true.

Another reason why Truth is elusive is that so many humans don't even try to seek it but rather try to manipulate information to server their own purposes.

Seeking truth is important because we have to see through the selfish lies as well as the honest mistakes. We may never arrive at 100% certainty (though I suppose we might, though the overwhelming majority of people have been wrong before - the world is indeed round - or so I'm told) but even imperfect truths such as Newtonian physics can still be useful.

Furthermore even if we can't be 100% sure, seeking truth in an honest unbiased way is good for the human spirit. The journey's the thing.

Truth is universal and not elusive. Truth should be the main thread of our lives. It is elusive to some people because they don't wish to acknowledge what is true. Truth can be painful at times but lies hurt and scar all the time. Blessings on you.

The Truth is so elusive because the whole nature of here is designed with a thousand hiding places that call to our ego, because we have to fight a part of ourselves to even want to seek it, and because although the Truth is simple we take great delight in complicating everything. In the search for Truth we are our own worst enemy at times. It is important because it is Truth, & our ignorance of it or lack of acceptance can never change this reality. Truth simly is truth.

The truth is only elusive to those who do not wish to accept it. they may need to go through trials and tribulations in order to understand the truth as the truth.

many things cloud the journey toward the truth, because those things that cloud the truth have their own agenda or fear the truth and what being set free by the truth will cause.

Truth isn't just "elusive"; it doesn't exist at all.

It isn't important either, but lots of people look for it all the same, and many more assume they have found it.

And to think all they need is what works. No more and no less. No matter whether any of it is real, whether life is what we think it is or not.... what matters is having a good family, a good sett, making sure the food is provided for, and being comfortable.
All the rest is just unnecessary details.

Truth is elusive only to those who refuse to believe it. To find your inner peace, one must do so with complete truthfulness to oneself and others. That's the importance of truth.

If we are used to being honest with ourselves, we can reach a degree of 'truth' about a specific subject. Otherwise, it's a fairly abstract matter - like the stories of a dozen people seeing an accident and all of them telling their version of what they saw. Each tells the truth, but not one story matches any of the others.

Truth isn't elusive. Truth exists. Truth is there. Our problems consist in finding it. The more of truth we find and understand, the more we seek.

Truth in Latin is "veritas." It looks like a plural word, but it is singular.

Keep seeking, keep finding, keep learning.
