When we first got our broadband it was really fast, then it just started winding down and now is just stuck on the same speed, of 15Kbps maximum download speed, used to be 1Mb or over. Any ideas on why its done that?

There could be many problems there.
it could be malware, viruses, or all that stuff. you might want to do a scan
also, it could be that you have too much junk on your computer, or need to clean up the registry, or you might have to many programs running.
or it could be you ISP, so you might wanna call them also.

Properly your isp is busy and have alot of users on line at the moment.
Have you tried early in the morning when alot of user don't really use the Internet see if your speed increases then.

Contact your ISP and ask them. It's probably either something on their end or it could be a problem with your modem or router.

bad connection,modem dying,provider oversold bandwidth in your area or computer is slowed down by virus taking up all the bandwidth?

many people are using the same line.
viruses or malware are running on your pc.
Virus/malware scan your pc or contact your internet provider.
