I live in Scotland so the school system will probably be different where you live but basically I have been at High School for 5 years now and i'm doing my highers (Grades to allow me into university).
The thing is i'm having a extremelly difficult time keeping up and i'm starting to fall behind really badly. I hope to get some kind of job in 3D Design but if i'm having this much trouble in school I would hate to imagine what university would be like.
Also I haven't discussed this with my parents because the would probably have a heart attack at the idea of me leaving school I could just leave if I wanted to but I would hate to let everyone down so I really have no idea what to do.

First, try not to freak out. It's really hard to make a decision like this one, and trying to do it while you're worried about your parents and everyone's expectations of you is impossible, so relax and forget about them for a second.

Take a minute to think about why you're falling behind. Is the work too difficult? Are you trying to keep up with school and have a job on the side? Are you taking advanced/accelerated classes? Once you have a picture of why, specifically, school has become so difficult, you can begin to look for a solution. Many teachers will understand your situation and want to help you get caught up. Whether it's staying after school, finding a tutor, or dropping to a lower level of certain classes, there are a lot of options to reduce the amount of stress that school puts on you.

If you've gone through all of that and still feel like you may have to drop out, it's time to talk to your parents. Don't present it like "this is what's going to happen", but rather ask them for help. If you're discouraged, they can try to motivate you. If you're confused and frustrated, they can try to work through it with you. As upset as they may be at the possibly of you leaving school, they will want to help you more than they will want to yell at you (I hope!).

My main piece of advice is just to do whatever it takes to make school work for you. Dropping out should not be an option, even if it seems easy. College may not be for everyone, but if you intend to follow a career that requires a degree, then you need to do what it takes to get to university. It's hard, and it's going to be a pain for a while, but don't let that get in the way of what you want to do. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck!

So why are you falling behind? Have you looked at how much time you're spending studying and compared it to others who are getting the grades you want? My daughter is in her 10th year, or as we say, she's a Sophomore in high school. She's just now figuring out how much time she needs to spend, and realizing that some of her socializing and computer time are going to have to take a back seat.

The only reason I pose this question is because your question comes across as very literate and intelligent. (Even though there are numerous mechanical errors.) So I doubt it's an intelligence issue. Does your school offer any type of assistance? Or is it "survival of the fittest"?

Finally, I doubt that university will be much harder. Hang in there.

Here's my only advise 2 u. Stay in skool. If u can't go to college, at least graduate from high school bc if u don't, it will adversely affect ur life for the next 50 years. If ur having difficulty, seek help. Don't worry about ur parents reaction. They might have a heart attack first, but they're there 2 help u when u need it. If u can't talk 2 ur parents, seek a tutor. Ur school prolly provide one. In the end, it will all work out.

STAY IN SCHOOL!!!! haveing a hard time is NO reason to leave, if you can talk to a counselor about changing some of your courses or taking less at one time. Get a tutor to help with the classes you can't get out of. If you don't have your dipolma, you will be stuck in a finicial rut with not much of a future. Since you now what you want to do in life, slowly work towards it. I have faith in you, you can do it.

No matter how hard high school is. You just need to pass first. It is a fact that high school graduates make approximatly 20% more in income than a non-high school graduate. A college degree will allow you to make around 45% more than a high school graduate. So if you don't even finish high school then your missing out on 65% of your income potential.

Take a one-year break from school. Try to find a job that will give you experience in your chosen field. In the year away from school you'll gain maturity and experience and will be better prepared to make a decision regarding your future.
