I have web design course but it puts me off seeing the coding, typing it and remembering it.

What do you want? Do that! And right away, while your mind is fresh enough to learn it! Remember that, you're going to have to "earn your keep" and food and comfort and all that, so you'd better "find the path" and learn the skillset, in depth, that works best for YOU. Yes, there are many languages to try. Not all are for beginners either, you should start with Basic, VisualBasic, or Basic4GL. You can download Visual Basic from http://www.msdn.com and Basic4gl from http://www.basic4gl.net. Both of these have tutorials on their websites, and later you may want to learn C++, C, or something else a little bit more advanced. I used to do more Desktop Programming, but now I do mostly web development, so you may end up changing your course. It also helps to understand Math, specifically Variables. I actually learned programming before I knew that math, but when I learned that kind of math in school, it came natural through programming. Its called Camping into a WALL. This happens, when you read the books but no improvement takes place.
The key is to go back to its concept. Programming has a concept. Analysis - design - solution- testing - implementation.
You need to learn the basics first. The best is to learn the C++, or if you are like me and don't get C++ then use JAVA. Use a good book such as Dietel and Dietel JAVA how to program or for C++ use Herbert Shield C++ the complete referrence. Also read IAN Sommerville Software Engineering.
If the concept is clear then you can learn any language with ease as all follow the Basics.

Web design and programming are two different things. As a matter of fact learning HTML and CSS and learning to program are very different.
If you have basic English knowledge it's easy to memorize the code, since it's made up of English words. The important thing is to be able to grasp the logic behind the code.
Like Yoi_55 said, programming is not for everyone. Memorizing a code is just as futile as memorizing the solving of a maths problem.
Does the latter make you a mathematician?

Programming isn't for everyone, if you just can't understand it maybe try something else...either a different programming language or a different course.

It's not for everyone. Most people have strong pattern recognition skills. You might need to give yourself more time, it's not a natural thing to learn at first glance, but if you really don't enjoy it it's not for you.
