recommended you to reinstall tcp/ip, no disk required just follow the steps below:

In Control Panel, double-click Network Connections, right-click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties.

Click Install.

Click Protocol, and then click Add.

Click Have Disk.

In the Copy manufacturer's files from box, type:
c:\windows\inf

then click OK.

In the list of available protocols, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click OK.

after finish all, restart your computer

I think i had the same prob. Well, i don't quite remember how bt when i called a technician to tell me what was wrong wit the net, he told me how to renew the IP address. However, it didnt work out. Then i used a friend's pc to download Spybot Search and Destroy from www.filehippo.com. Then i installed it on my pc(used a USB to put it on my pc) n when i runed a scan, it detected and destroyed some spybots and worms or smthng. Then, my internet got going again! Hop it helps!

It sounds like your network cable (if wired network) is not plugged in. Make sure that you have link lights on the port. If you have wireless, make sure you are connected to a wireless network.
