I'm 50 years old. I've been invested in the stock market before the DJI30 reached 2,000. I invested in Wal-Mart, IBM, Apple, Microsoft and Home Depot when they became IPO's.

Life's been good. I have no debts, I own my home.

I only work because I need health care to protect my health and wealth.

If Hillary guarantees health care, I'm thinking about quiting work and signing on with her plan.

And since I won't have an income, I would technically be poor, so my health care should be free.

This will give me more time to do those things I've always wanted to at home, and give me more time to see my doctor to get those little things taken care of, those things I don't want to spend my money on.

How many other close to retirement people plan to take advantage of the tax payers charity and quit work as I do?

And do you see any disadvantages to this plan?

If everyone is of your mind set, who is going to pay for the insurance? It has to come from somewhere. If everyone quits to get free insurance there will more than likely be higher taxes on those left working and on your pension. I was fortunate enough to be employed where I could keep the same insurance I had for the same premium when I retired at 55. I know that the insurance I have is good. I would not even consider switching to the insurance being proposed by Hillary.

Don't quit your job yet. This is a government program we are talking about here. Like the medicare program that is going broke and cutting benefits, or the social security program that is going broke. Government has never done any successful programs. Government health care is meant to line the pockets of the politicians and the people who bribe them, provide health care for the lazy and irresponsible, and give the government another huge pot of money to blow on foolishness. It will provide very little health care to the average working American, just stick us with the bill. Think a little. Would you trade your freedoms and our way of life for some health care? Socialism sucks.

Yes, I think many people would go ahead and retire earlier if they didn't have to worry about health insurance coverage. Health insurance premiums take up most of my pension check each month. If my husband was not employed I couldn't have taken early retirement at age 57 from my job. I don't think the health care plan Hillary Clinton wants would be entirely free to US taxpayers. It does sound a lot better than letting private insurance companies rule the health care industry. Don't you think it would be similar to Medicare? Coverage for all but a variety of supplemental insurance coverages for those who can afford them. Medicaid/Welfare would be the supplemental insurance for the poor.

P.S. I'm not sure that you would qualify as poor. Assets can be considered as well as monthly/yearly income in defining poverty level.

I agree, however, why wasn't this grand plan instituted when she first came up with it while her husband was in office. My fear is that she will do for the country what she did for the State of New York, absolutely nothing. But she does put on good public appearances I guess.

I had a great distaste for her ever since the president's speech when she was chatting, laughing and being rude. Too bad, she had promise, but they all do until they take office.

Wouldn't you still have income from dividends and other investment assets? Wouldn't your eligibility be based on the unearned income?

Believe what you want. She's duped people before and she will again.
