I took a pregnancy test yesterday and at first I looked at it and went, "****, it's negative." But, of course, I couldn't leave it at that, I had to examine it at every angle, under every light, and, lo and behold, I could see something. But what? It didn't exactly seem to be a line. More like a shadow of a line, or possibly where the line is supposed to go if it were a positive test. I took another one this morning: same thing. This is frustrating! I know the "if there's any line at all you're pregnant" rule, but this line is so light I can't even tell if it's a line. For the first five minutes of examination I thought I was seeing things. It darkened up a bit (and by a bit I mean seeable to the blind eye now) as it dried, but after 10 minutes the test is considered invalid. My question is, I "saw" the line, or where it would be, before the 10 minute mark. So is it valid, or is it possible to see where a positive line would be on a negative test (under intense scrutiny)?

P.S. I'm going to get a blood test when my husband gets home from his flight physical. This is really just to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience and whether their test was really positive or negative. I don't want to have false hopes.

Well, I know about evap lines, and I saw this "line" or shadow or whatever while the test was wet, not after it dried. While it got easier to read when it dried, that doesn't mean I didn't see anything while it was wet (obviously or I wouldn't have asked this question to begin with). And it was an e.p.t. I've heard you can get false positives with them, and I don't know if this is what they meant. Hence the blood test.
