I think so.
Discipline as a child helps us to be self-disciplined as adults, and self-discipline is what we need to achieve success in life.

Yes, but do not confuse the definition of discipline with following all of the rules.
Many people follow all of the rules and are not 'successful' in western thought.
I think you really want to know what to be successful means.
To be truly successful has nothing to do with career, money, status or possession.
To be truly successful is to know yourself and possess peace. This success is possible with or without.
To be a disciple is to be disciplined. Be a disciple of yourself and you will be disciplined.
Success will come with that discipline.

In human lfie, discipline is the way to bring in a formation things of all kind involved for the fulfilment of some specific cause or purpose in the mind. Without a purpose in view, we could not have been able to make any sense out of this world at all, or out of our mind. For instance, what would be an apple for you if the purpose of you acquiring nutrition and joy from the act of eating it would not be permanently attached to it?
Similarly, all other things in our world, we know, just because we know the way they form parts of our lives. We understand what, for instance, a road is for in our life, what is the general purpose are trees, what a bench is for, what use to us is the air, water and clouds etc. This is the discipline that we have learned throughout our lives that we hardly notice as ourselves, or as our mind itself. We hardly realise that we could learn ourselves into being, and then a better person. We learn all our life and the central topic of our study is our own being – in this sense our lives are the discipline that we are.
Now, if we want to reach out and do something specific in this world to achieve something then that would mean that we extend ourselves for a purpose or a cause. How could an extension of ourselves be still a better ourselves, our successes, without being at least as disciplined as we already are?
Besides, it would we impossible to succeed to without discipline, as foreign intention will soon discipline our intentions to succeed into their stronger and more disciplined purposes.

It really depends on what you wish to be successful at.
If you want to be a successful executive or general then yes discipline is probably necessary.
If you are more concerned about having succesful relationships and a happy family, then discipline is a good tool but not a necessity.

the more you are given the less disciplined you have to be.
if you come from a family which practically throws you into "success" then you really dont gotta do **** in comparison to the person who has to crawl his/her way up.

Not in terms of rigidity, but we need to be disciplined in terms of inner light to see the consequences of our own words and actions.

no because no matter how disciplined you are if you don't know how to apply the disciplines that you've learned or had been taught to you then it's useless.
