Hi, I am going to Vegas in early October and unsure as to what to pack.
During the day - do I want to take shorts/skirts or more three quarter lengths/thin trousers?
During the night - well some people say that people there do like to dress up others say its very casual - again do I take jeans/black trousers/long skirts/dresses or do I take my skirts/ shorter dresses/shorts etc.

The most important thing that you need to bring is comfortable shoes for walking. As far as clothes, it depends on what you are going to do. Walking around on the strip is more casual, the night clubs are more dressy...just be comfortable. The nights are getting pretty cool right now...I would bring a thin sweater or jacket.

Normally early October is still quite warm in Vegas but desert nights can get nippy that time of year. I'd take at least one outfit that's warmer just in case. Having lived in Vegas for 17 years I can tell you the employees of casinos do judge you by how you dress so don't go for grunge. Unless you plan to go to some high end restaurants or shows don't dress fancy either. Casual neat always works.

I usually bring nicer casual clothes and a couple of fancier pieces for the evening. The majority of people in Vegas dress pretty well and I try to blend in. People do dress up in the evening for some of the restaurants and shows. I would also bring a light to medium sweater or jacket to wear in the evening as it can get chilly at night in October.

for the most part, just dress comfortable...Jeans and T's work fine or Capri outfits. went last year in mid October, and it rained the night before and the morning that we left...but there were 7 of us and we were all in Jeans and shorts...the gals in Jeans, and blouses or T's, and Sandals, the guys in shorts and T's and Button down shirts.... also in sandals...you're going on Vacation, so be comfortable...you might want to dress up a little for the shows, but for the most part...you can work your wardrobe around your favorite jeans and capris.

do take a jacket and a pair of jeans in the casinos are cold and transportation buses and the monorail is very cold

your clothes are fine and one swet shirt or sweater.
I live here and it has been 55 at night. so you do not want to get cold.
