Hi there!

I will imagine that most of the people who answer your question will say that it is NOT true. These are coming from a Wiccan perspective. However, there are a lot of varying paths of witchcraft (most are not Wiccan) and some of these (miner included) do utilize blood-letting for specific purposes.

You can go to the official website of The Craft and read about the woman who was hired as a spiritual advisor for the movie. She is a high priestess and a witch. I think you can also see the information on the Special Features of the DVD of the movie.

Many of the things, which were in the movie were dramatizations and fictional (Like the name of the god they refered to), however, it would be VERY easy to clean it up and use it as a guide for a practice.

If you have any more questions, just email me directly.

First a "blood ritual" works as well with the bleeding wound made with a tiny straight pin and a single tiny drop of blood. Even young non-Craft children appear to know without the telling that a single small drop of blood shared seals a ritual. This is true throughout Humankind.

Second, Hollywood can buy as many "Witches" as they want. The taking of a title does not mean a person has any knowledge of the true and ancient Crafts.

Movies are made to titillate audiences. The crafts are, for the most part, subtle and understated. An audience would fall asleep and the gross profits on ticket sales low if the played true rather than for the thrill.

Alot of this movie was very dramatized. Most don't harm themselves but cutting or drinking blood nor can we cause lots of whales to show up dead or change our eye/hair color ect. There are some sect though that do use blood letting as part of a ritual. However the way the rituals were performed are based on fact (i.e. most do cast a circle and call on the elements for aid). What was also accurate in that movie was it's portrayal of magic as being neutral (neither good nor bad) but the actions and intent of the witch that makes it so. The three girls used their power for evil and they suffered the consequences while the heroine of the story ends up useing the same power but for good. It was nice to find a grain of truth in a fun yet slightly sensationalized portrayal of real magic. Hope that helps!

Blessed Be!

Whoever said that has no idea what they're talking about. It's a movie for entertainment. If they believe a Hollywood movie is true to Witchcraft or Wicca, they must also believe that Charmed is exactly what Wiccans do and all kids should go to Hogwarts. Yes, in a long stretch some of the ideas are based in actual Witchcraft but its still a stretch.

Absolutely not. There is nothing realistic about this ridiculous POS of a movie. If you're interested in witchcraft, there are a million decent books out there. Do not take the "Craft" as anything more than it is, namely Hollywood garbage.

The only realistic association in that movie is that they had a Wiccan High-Priestess guiding them. "Trying" to make the movie look as real as possible. That's about it. The magic in that movie is not real. It's all just hollywood special effects.

No, it may be loosely related to Wicca but is not magical at all. Who said it has a realistic association to magic? They are mistaken and clearly know nothing of the subject at all.

many entertainment forms that depict magic are selling fasination to simple people. real magic is stuff like the way your children turn you into a big wimpy pushover or when you find yourself eager to help others.

No, that is not even close to what magic is, that is Hollywood making a dollar. And it is even further away from what Wicca is about.
