Yes firstly it is normal and congratulations !! Breastfeeding causes the release of oxytocin which causes your uterus to contract down smaller back to normal size so this can cause bleeding and clots to move.. Its great isn't it leaking in every available way !!! I had my three children at home with midwives and had this with the third one .. if you start to have a fresh bright flow then take it as a sign that you have been doing too much .. rest more and let your body recover ...let other people 'mother 'you a bit ....enjoy !!!

Usually totally normal. You usually don't need to call the doc/midwife unless the clot is bigger than an egg, or if the bleeding is dramatically heavier and is saturating a pad in less than an hour. If you are bleeding as heavy as just mentioned, that is an emergency, go to the ER immediately. If you bleeding just feels a little bit heavier than it has been , put the baby to breast. When you breastfeed your body releases oxytocin, the hormone that causes uterine contractions. When you contract, your bleeding should slow down.

Absolutely normal. Breastfeeding induces it, too. Lucky you :-) Mine didn't quit for 4 weeks...lucky me :-) The clots let up after 3 though. There is nothing to worry about as long as you are feeling well and not losing a really extraordinary amount of blood. It is scary at first though :-)
Well, I guess this has gotten rid of any men that were perusing.

Hi there, my son is four and a half months old now. I lost blood for about six weeks after giving birth to him. There were quite large clots that came out from time to time and then it lessened and then stopped. It is strange but apparently normal. I hope you are getting plenty of rest!!! The old saying, when baby sleeps, you sleep. :)

While clots can be normal after birth, I am not entirely sure how big is too big though. Is there anyone else you can call like a doctors office, maternal help line or even the hospital ER for confirmation?

Yes it is normal, but just monitor that it doesn't get worse. Write down a little record. If you are at all concerned let your midwife/Dr know.
