I own a shop, and what I would do is go to the library. They have all kinds of books on Classic Cars. They have everything from repair manuals dating back to the 20's, to modern day Mustangs & Camaros. They even have some movies that you can check out. One you should check out is "Gone in 60 Seconds". Another good source is "Speed TV" and "The History Channel" on the TV.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!
