When will it occur to you people that in order to be conservative, you do not have to be religious? I read stuff like this and it blows me away and of course, the 'progressives' will jump right in and answer for us. I personally don't give a hoot what you people do, just don't force your life style on me. Don't change school text books to tell my children that gay is normal, don't parade in front of me or my children with gay sex toys and expect applause. If you're an atheist, that's fine too. Live and let live and quit the badgering of those who aren't.

Rest assured, most conservatives could give a hoot what you do with your private lives. I sure don't. LOL! But I also reserve the right not to embrace you.

Since when is being "moral" a religious issue? Unless you are an animal that only acts on instinct, you have some sort of moral imperative that drives your decisions. ALL societies decide their values and morals...and then make them into laws. That our morals and values have a Christian foundation is hardly a surprise, but are they that much different than other free societies?

Because they feel it is their "mission" to make everyone conform to their own twisted ideals. Of course, this is true of everyone, whether conservative or liberal, or anything else.

Someone mentioned Liberals teaching homosexuality in schools -- and at the same time they showed how stupid such a statement is. See, if homosexuality can be taught and learned, then it is possible to teach people to enjoy being burned. It should also be possible to teach people to like broccoli -- and we all know that George W. Bush doesn't like broccoli, no matter how much his mother may have taught him otherwise.

No, conservatives -- and liberals -- try to force their brands of "Morality" on us because they wish to be in control. They wish to be the ones dictating to everyone else what is believed, what is thought, what is learned. And it won't be conservatives or liberals who ruin this country, either.

It will be both conservatives AND liberals.

religious based morality can not be "forced",

FORCING IS REPELLING

But if some one can educate the masses, religious based morality may be the best thing for any society.

Genuine conservatives, while don't. But the current "neoconservatives" /religous right have no interest in personal freedom (except for themselves). They've made that very clear with their open contempt for the Constitution.

And their "religious morality" isn't--its a program of social control wrapped in rheligious rhetoric that bears no resemplance to what Christ taught.

Its a classic bait and switch. Some of these Domionist Christians are REALLY after power. I see them as dangerous as the " islamofascists " if not more so.
Unlike the "islamofascists " the Dominionists, ( charicterized by folks like Pat Robertson ), are REAL. Freedom has nothing to do with their agendas. By the way the US is NOT a Christian nation. If the early 18th C. Founders wanted a theocarcy, they would have created one.
The church/state wall is as vital as ever.

Liberals are free to criticize conservatives in this country because our form of government was founded on freedom.

Whether the liberals like it or not, this country was founded by Christians that were very devout believers. George Washington once said that our form of government is wholly inadequate for an immoral people.

The founding principles of this country came straight out of the Bible. You see, God will hold each man accountable for his actions. Without the ability to choose those actions, how can he be held responsible? That is why the Preamble to the Constitution says (in so many words) that rights are given by God and that no man or institution created by man can deny them.

Freedom and rights require responsibility. The founding fathers wrote the Constitution to limit GOVERNMENT. No where in that document did they limit the freedoms of a single person. The entire document was written to limit the power of government.

The Constitution "enumerated" a handful of things (responsibilities) that were required of the federal government. It then said the federal government could do nothing else. They went on to say that all other powers were reserved to the States and to the people. What this really means is that they intended for the power to stay as close to the people as possible.

Today, we find the federal government far more powerful than the states and power/control continues to migrate to the federal government in stark violation of the Constitution.

When the federal government "provides" things that people feel they are "entitled" to, they end up giving up some of the control they should have over their own lives and livelihood. The government does not do anything efficiently.

These days, the federal government coerces state governments by threatening to withhold funds for such things as education, highways and other "programs." This is not supposed to happen. It takes power from the people.

The Constitution says there will be no direct tax...sounds crazy doesn't it! A direct tax is a tax on labor. The intent was that the states would come up with a way to tax its people, the feds would say, "OK, you have 5.6% of the population, so we figure you should pay 5.6% of the cost of federal government this year." That would allow the states to say..."Wait a minute! You cannot justify some of that expense because the Constitution forbids it!"

The way it is now...liberal policies have all of that upside down and they are demanding more foolishness! They now want all of us to pay for the medical treatment of everyone else. They want the federal government to control it! Given the fact that the government never does anything efficiently, why do liberals think the federal government should run the health care system?

If the feds ever take over health care, they will take over yet more control of private information that is none of their business. They will increase taxes. Completely the opposite of the way it was intended...in fact in violation of law.

The activities permitted by the Constitution for the federal government to be involved with can be counted on the fingers of one hand. They do not include welfare programs, highways, medical care, education, the FBI and many other such things.

Liberals seem to despise the fundamental moral principles our country was founded on. These were not invented by "conservatives." There was a time before socialists and the depraved hijacked the title of liberal when it was respectable. Back then, people that "thought outside the box" and believed in freedom and personal responsibility were called liberals.

Some of these "liberals" names might be familiar...names like Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin.

Liberals often make the point that conservatives want to preach at them or tell them how to live...I can only speak for myself, yet I dare say that I am in the majority of conservatives when I say this: If you want to be homosexual, I don't care what you do behind closed doors, just don't march in the streets almost naked where others are exposed to your lack of modesty, don't try to violate my religious freedoms by forcing it to be taught to my children, when you get aids and other diseases, don't expect me to pay for it....when a president goes to war or acts like a dictator, don't forget that it was the liberal policies that allowed the powers to leave the people...When you complain about high taxes...it is allowing the feds the ability to tax our paychecks (thank liberal politicians). When you find out there is a nine month waiting list to get an X-ray...thank socialized medicine...When they finally figure out how much of the health care system is paying for AIDS treatments and the medications are denied...thank your liberal policies....do you wonder why Canadians come here to get medical treatment?

For those that wonder why medical costs have skyrocketed, remember, those 20 million or so illegal aliens get sick. Most don't have health insurance...emergency rooms are required by law to treat them...guess who pays!.... Doh!

If you question my right to these opinions, I earned them. I earned them for you too as well as myself. When most of todays so called liberals were doing LSD and having "love ins," I was serving one of my three tours in Vietnam during my 8 years in Special Forces.

So when you "liberals" want to dance around in your pink to-tos and demand your rights, remember that it was guys like me that made it so you don't get shot by some Nazi when you're doing it.

Have a nice day.

would that be the same as what liberals (who by definition are suppose to be open to everyone's views) force their beliefs on other people.

Example teaching homosexuality in schools. I could care less either way but it should be up to the parent to decide what they teach their children about this subject.

As far as pushing religion on people by the goverment. Creation is not allowed to be taught in school, you cant have prayer in school and many other things.

I am not a christian or a conservative i am a moderate but I definatley see the double standard when it comes to what liberals are allowed to do in the name of PC over what Condervatives are allowed to do.

I do not see any sources as to "how" we're "forcing our morality" on anyone. In fact, it's the total opposite. The neo-cons who hijacked my party are helping the liberals destroy Christianity before our very eyes - from reducing prayer to moments of silence to nothing in schools and removing anything that remotely resembles Christ or the celebration of a religious holiday from buildings. Our children aren't even allowed to say "Merry Christmas" anymore for pete's sake.

It seems to me that the moral-less are trying to force their ideals on US. Where do your rights end and mine begin? Our rights have been trampled on for years, and I'll keep fighting for every freedom I have left before you federalize everything.
