Not while she is pregnant. After the baby is born, she can petition for child support. If he doesn't have a job, and she is low income, she can collect welfare, and if there is a child support order in place while she collects, the father is responsible for paying back the state for the welfare she receives. They will eventually go after him, and if necessary, garnish any wages he earns or place a tax levy on him.
Even if he has no job, she can get a child support order. He'll just keep racking up the bill and will have to pay eventually somehow, either voluntarily or by way of a court order.

She cannot do anything until the baby is born and paternity is determined. If at the point the father does not have a job, or doesn't want to pay child support, she can get a court order.
The courts cannot force him to find work, they can only place judgments against him for the money he owes. And even if she gets a judgment, he might still dodge payments if he is out of work (i.e. the court will have no wages to garnish).
Hopefully, though, the father will find work at some point and have at least some money to offer for the baby's care. Tell your friend to hang in there, and please thank her for choosing life for the baby. Remember, too, that adoption coudl be an option for her as well. If she doesn't want to spend her life fighting the father for money, and raising a child on her own while trying to work (is that a good life for a child) she can give the baby to a stable and financially secure family.

Honestly the state would not award child support to your ex if you do not have a job. They base the award amount solely on how much you make, how much your ex makes, and how much time the child is with each of you. If you do not make any money they cannot force a child support order on you. You will not get thrown in jail unless there is an existing child support order and you do not pay it then. Even if they do make you pay child support they have to make it within your means of paying, which would be nothing right now. All I can suggest is make an effort to see your child which doesn't have to happen at your apartment and try to contribute anything you can to avoid a costly child support mess.

Not really because the courts will want to establish paternity before awarding child support and that is done after the baby is born. An amniocentesis can tell, but is too risky for paternity reasons only.

She can do nothing. Once the child is born she can petition the court for child support. But even the court cant "make" him get a job!

Once the child is born, a DNA test will be done, once its proven to be his, the courts will order child support and he will either get a job or go to jail.
