People think Americans are stupid because:
* Americans don't know anything about another country unless they're bombing that country for oil.
* Most aren't registered to vote but have the nerve to complain about their dumb politicians
* Most believe that any form of government regulation means communism. Hey Americans, look at your health care system. Sure its not regulated but you let poor people who can't afford health care die on the streets because you don't want universal healthcare. So are you sure you still don't want your health care system regulated?
So much for 'the land of the free'. Oh but you (Americans) can keep telling yourself that other countries are jealous of your 'freedom' and 'wealth'. If that makes you feel better.

Well, I'm an American, but I am not your average American, because the average American does not care anything about other cultures, countries, or history even the history of our own country. Obviously they have never looked at a map or traveled outside of the U.S.. I have never gone to college, but I read A LOT and I love history and geography, I also love learning about different cultures, and plan to learn a fourth language pretty soon. I am also very excited that I will be traveling to beautiful South Africa in December and plan to learn all I can while I'm there.

Listen, if it makes you feel better if you tell yourself that an entire country is stupid because of something you saw on youtube, go ahead.
Americans like myself are being told all the time by the rest of the world how stupid we are, how loud we are, how we don't know geography, how we don't understand irony, how we don't understand sarcasm, how we have no culture, how we have no history, how we're arrogant, how our government controls us through propoganda, how we can't think for ourselves, how we're fat, how we're rude, how we're war mongers, etc, etc, etc, etc.....
Some guy on Y/A showing me a youtube clip, claiming it to be proof that we're stupid, hardly comes on my radar. Join the club buddy. Have a good one.

Yes that was embarrassing and we can think our educational system for helping to create the problem . They no longer teach history or geography and the important thing is to be fair and to make the students feel good . The teachers spend more time expressing their political beliefs than they do teaching a subject. On the other hand I have been to Europe and Great Britain(not so great anymore) and they have their share of stupid people also. The only difference is that the American people have better things to do than make fun of other less fortunate people.

This movie is frightening!
They are not stupid, a lot are just self-centred and a-cultured. According to me, they are not guilty of that : the system is done to make them follow their leaders without having to think.
However, I don't think we can generalize this to the whole American citizens : you have some of the best scientists, movie-makers and singers in the world.

No, Americans aren't less intelligent than the rest of the worlds population. I am sure whoever made the clip conveniently edited out the people who got the answers correct, and showed only the wrong answers, would it really make it an entertaining clip showing people who know all the answers? By the way, since you are using youtube as a legitimate platform to prove Americans are dumb, where was youtube created? Wasnt it created in America by stupid Americans?

But is not their fault. It's the goverment, educational system, Television, style of life.. Most of people in EUA doesn't need a career or special skills to live with all their needs supplied.

I think the ignorance is a 2 way street. It's obvious from answers of people who do not live here, they also have little knowledge of America. Especially when they talk about poor people dying in the streets from lack of medical care. Really? Where would that be? Many are spouting what they " heard" not what they know.
I'd be just as happy, if we are that ignorant, that no one asks us for money for disasters , or the starving people from other countries. To claim to know all Americans and then say they are stupid is, frankly, stupid.
How many that are bashing the US in just this thread, have ever been to America and used any of our health care systems. I am glad you are proud of your particular country, but bashing Americans by calling them stupid, does nothing to enhance your country's appearance, either.

I laughed so hard when I saw that. It really puts things in perspective. The map was hiliarious.
I tend to rant about how this country could be great if we 'took care of bussiness' at home, but now I see the truth.
America is living off the prosperity of her youth. I just hope I die before she does. I really don't want to go through a change of government. I'm just getting used to the one I have now.

In talking to Americans, Rick Mercer goes to people in universities, and high ranking politicians, it amazing the things that are said
We laugh until we realize they have the most WMD's, and they are the only country to have used them
